Dr. Jimmy Cortez: 2000 FUE Hair Transplants + PRP, Best Technique Ever
ORIGINAL POST
Dr. Jimmy Cortez did a great job with my FUE hair...
WORTH IT$3,600
Dr. Jimmy Cortez did a great job with my FUE hair transplants at his clinic, http://en.hairmedicalrestoration.com/. It was my 2nd transplant procedure. My first was FUT strip method 3 years earlier in India. That fixed my front hair line, but I've had more hair loss since then, and wanted better density coverage over most of the top of my head. Dr. Cortez used way better technology that wasn't available 3 years ago. Primarily HMR uses a new disposable "punch" that looks like a plastic superglue dispenser with a hollow beveled needle that his technicians carefully latch each graft to. He inserts each graft with only a pin prick (instead of a 1/4" slice like my last transplant session), and when he pushes the "plunger" button, it retracts the steel needle and leaves the graft.
They opened about 10 of them in front of me, and kept rotating through them.
This has many benefits. Less cutting. Less bleeding. Less swelling. Less pain. Better placement and positioning of the angle of each hair. Less time per insertion, so he can do a bigger session efficiently, and focus more on the aesthetic. I'm 2 days after now, and my recovery is so much better than last time. I'm more comfortable, less puffy, more able to go about my business.
I'm really hopeful. Dr. Jimmy Cortez, and his partner Dr. Jorge Cortez gave me very thorough instructions before and after the procedure to maximize my odds of success. They were far more detailed than my other procedure, with more tips and tricks, and explained things patiently and thoroughly. This really reassured me they had chosen the most advanced methods and were giving me the best chance for good coverage. Beforehand I had done telephonic consultations with 6 different Tijuana-based doctors for my research and selection process. HMR's methods were as advanced as anybody's, they were very positive, and their price was competitive.
The procedure included 2 nights in Hotel Real Del Rio (quite nice and on the same block as clinic), antibiotics (ceflexin) and anti-inflammation/pain (naproxin) meds to take home, a bottle of Avene Thermal water mist spray to hydrate scalp every 30 minutes to minimize itching, and Platelet Rich Plasma injections to optimize graft survival and possibly grow new hairs. The only "Extra" I paid for was to have their Concierge Service pick me up at the San Diego International Airport and return me back the day after my procedure. It looked like it might be cheaper than taxi, and I didn't want to hassle with arranging ground transportation.
I may try to figure out a way to do PRP sessions every month for the next 2-3 months, as I've heard good things about them.
So, 2 days after the procedure, and so far everything has been very impressive. Fingers crossed!
