17 days Post Surgery New Years Eve!

Here are some pictures taken on New Years Eve. I still have my drains and stitches.

Pre Surgery Photos

Here are a few pictures of me with my clothes on pre-surgery and the pictures taken a few hours before surgery.

I'm a 49 year old African American female who had gastric bypass surgery in 2001 and managed to keep the weight off. I have been carrying this 'extra skin' to remind me that I must constantly watch my weight. I decided I no longer needed the reminder and I wanted it removed. I was tired of tucking and folding this skin into my clothes. Yuck!! For all of my life my thighs have carried the bulk of my weight. If I like the results of the lower body lift, I plan on going back to have a Arm and Thigh Lift.

I was in Mexico in 2012 and did a consultation with Dr. Quiroz and took a tour of his facilities. He provided me with an honest assessment, costs, and the plan. During my pre-prep to have the surgery I discovered that I had fibroids and needed a hysterectomy. So I had that surgery in late 2012, stopped smoking at the same time and then proceeded to gain 45 pounds!! It took me about 1 year of eating healthy and exercising to get the weight off, but I did it!! Almost 2 years later, I was finally ready to give myself a better looking body.

I took the plunge on December, 15, 2014 with a lower body lift and fat transfer to the buttocks. Let me tell you...this surgery is not easy breezy. My surgery was performed in the morning and I did not return to my room until 9:00pm. Yep, it was a long time between the surgery and recovery room. I received round the clock care from the nurses in the surgical wing post surgery. I was then transferred to the Recovery Boutique where I received excellent care from some of the most caring folks I have every met. These ladies really took care of me. I stayed at the Recovery Boutique for 7 days and flew home to Chicago 1 week post op with drains and stitches. My drains were not ready to come out due to the amount of fluid that was still draining.

So far it is too soon to tell if I'm happy or not. I'm only 3 weeks post op and I still have my drains and stitches. The pain comes and goes, but it is manageable with pain meds. I'm very swollen and not really liking my butt which looks like a board. We'll have to wait and see how things pan out over the coming months. I'll keep this site updated as best as I can.
