Update

You can see my muscles! Scar is still healing - massaging in Bio Oil every day. But i'm so excited that you can see definition in my arms at this point! Not sure I'll be ready to go sleeveless for summer, but we'll see :)

Arm lift - healing update

1 month post op and healing well - have most of my range of motion back, but still being very careful of how I lift my arms as the area under my arm pit is still tight and healing a bit more slowly. I'm using the Dermatix Ultra as recommended by my surgeon to help the scar healing. I am also using A&D ointment (Yes from the babycare aisle) on my elbows daily and under my arms at night - it seems to help with the tightness a bit. I am also being good about trying to keep my protein intake up as well as taking my supplements recommended by the nutritionist (Vitaleph). I can tell when I've missed a day, I feel much more tired! Here is a new picture my husband took this morning... I am wearing a "genie bra" at night as it is comfortable, doesn't hurt my scar line, and seems to keep a decent compression on my breast lift. I wear this under my compression garment during the day as well. I tried a different type of bra, but since my incisions from my extended arm lift go down my sides and end just under the breast, it was way too uncomfortable. I'm very happy with the results I am seeing, and reminding myself to be patient about the scar healing... I'm hopeful that by summer, with possibly a bit of cover up on the scar, i'll be feeling comfortable to be sleeveless for the first time in 30+ years?? I'm SUPER excited that you can actually see muscles when I flex (just a little and very carefully) - with all that extra skin, it was impossible to see any muscle definition!

Healing great - 4 weeks post op

Today is my 4 week mark after my arm lift surgery with Dr. Salvador Medina in Tijuana Mexico (www.thearielcenter.com) I'm healing great - have almost complete range of motion back. I'm still being really careful of my right arm pit area, I had a little pulling there and I don't want to do anything to split anything or spread the scar. My arms still feel a little sore and heavy by the end of the day, and i'm still using my surgery as an excuse not to do housework (I will use that as long as humanly possible) but I am excited that I an start working out today (slowly!) and in another 2 weeks can be fully back into my power walks and taking my dog with me. I haven't taken a new photo... will try to get hubby to do that tonight!

Dr. Medina is an amazing cosmetic surgeon. He specializes in post bariatric (weight loss) surgery cosmetic procedures, because cosmetic surgery after a large amount of weight loss is a different ball game then a simple mommy makeover! I have been watching his work for years and decided I was ready. The care I received by the surgeon as well as the staff was amazing! Highly Recommend. www.thearielcenter.com
