I had been noticing for the past few years that my upper lip had started looking wider and thinner affecting my entire face. I looked into fillers but after researching on RealSelf, I realized a bullhorn lip lift was more likely what would improve the situation. I live in San Diego and It turns out there were very few Dr's in SoCal I could find that advertised the procedure. Finally on another message board, I ran across a patient who had had a lip lift with Dr. Alicia Sigler in Tijuana. I emailed her and she promptly replied and after emailing her some photos and a through discussion on the phone I booked my surgery for a week later. Since I was going to have a week or so of downtime I decided to also have an upper/lower blepharoplasty for eyes that were staring to become hooded and a scar revision for a 2" scar on my cheek from a previous car accident. I also decide to include a corner lip lift since from my research it looked like just the lip lift sometimes resulted in the corners of the mouth appearing down- turned, The total for all four procedures was $3700 which included all costs (Anesthesia, surgery suite etc) I didn't go to Tijuana looking for a bargain but it was certainly a nice surprise. As far as the experience, I met Dr. Sigler for the first time in person the day of surgery at the surgery center in TJ (about 10 min on the other side of the border). The center was brand new, state of the art and well staffed. The bloodwork was done there right before surgery and I elected to stay the night in one of the centers recovery suites (a well worth additional $100.00) The Dr. visited be the next morning prior to me leaving and gave me all the post op instructions then. I just got back from my 1 week suture removal visit today and again, Dr. Sigler was extremely professional, super nice and was great about answering all my very detailed questions. So far I'm extremely happy with the results. My lip seems to have been raised the amount I was looking for and the scars look to be well hidden along my nose creases. My cheek scar revision looks meticulous and is healing as a thin line, and my eye's look great. I did have some under-eye brusing which looked pretty bad the first few days but it is now day 7 and they have faded to pink/green/pale yellow so I'm hoping they will be sufficiently covered by my glasses when I return to work on Monday. I'd highly recommend Dr. Sigler and I'm happy to talk to anyone interested in getting more details.

Oh wow!! You look fantastic! Congrats! Was this the price for all 3 procedures?

Never mind... Ha! I see it. how did she do the corner lip lift? Are there incisions at the corners? Thanks!
October 3, 2015
Hi. Yes there were small 1/4" incisions along each corner of the mouth, about 3 stitches each side. They follow the edge of the lip so even just a week out they are not too noticeable.

Looks great. Thanks for sharing as I'm trying to talk my boyfriend into some procedures but even though he is complaining about aging looks , he still is of the mindset plastic surgery is only for women. So not true! So I will show him your results. Much appreciated. Happy healing!

Sigler charged u $3700??
October 4, 2015
Hi. Yea. That was the total out of pocket for all four procedures. Lip lift, mouth corners, upper/lower eyes and scar revision. I believe she has most prices posted on her website.

I saw that! Great prices
Thank you for sharing :)

Do you have any "before" pics you could post so we can see the difference?

I am also male and I had a lip lift in May by a doctor in Beverly Hills. I had 7 mm removed and I'm mostly glad I did. But there are two problems; the vertical columns are now off-center, and my upper lip now has a "kewpie doll" or "geisha girl" look. So I saw another Beverly Hills doctor who charged a $500 consultation fee, but he promotes himself as the top doc for this procedure. He was very charming and his recommendations to give me all that I needed seemed to make a lot of sense. But when I met with his assistant to get the pricing and to set an appointment for the surgery I nearly fell out of my chair when I saw that the total cost would be more than $28,000! There is no way I am going to spend that much money. Since then I have seen a couple of reviews of his work here on RealSelf that were pretty bad. It cost me $500 to find that out. I can't imagine he gets many people who are willing to pay that much money, so I have a feeling he makes a lot of his income on those $500 consultation fees.

I am going back to the original doctor to get a revision and maybe come to some conclusion about what to do with the other problem so I can get more fullness in the outer part of the upper lip. Because of your recommendation of Dr Sigler I may end up with her.

Thanks so much for sharing.

Hi. I also talked to a few Dr's in LA. Cost aside, I felt that Dr. Sigler's level of personal attention, very responsive communication as well as her experience with reconstructive surgery were the primary reasons I chose her. I had the same concern about having the center lip raised too high and the sides remaining low. My lift went under and around the bottom of the nostrils which also raised the lip further towards the mouth corners. I'm very happy with the results at 2 weeks. (& you can barely see the incision since it was closed tightly around the nostril edge and went up inside each nostril)

I just noticed in the "before" and "after" pics it appears that your lower lip is also fuller. Was something done to the lower lip? Your result is indeed amazing. I'm very grateful for your contribution here and deeply appreciative of your response to my questions. I am feeling more likely I will go to Dr. Sigler rather than have my original doctor do a revision, but I will wait to decide for sure after I see him Monday. Her work on you clearly is superior, but I wouldn't consider going to her if her fee were not so reasonably priced. I would be forced to take my chances on my doctor doing the revision. So glad that now I have another option.

Hi. Regarding fuller lower lip, I noticed that too. I think since the upper lip is raised it exposes the more of the lower lip. Just my guess but seems like it makes sense.

I really appreciate your reply to my comments. I saw your "before" pics and Dr. Sigler really did a great job on you; you look great! I'm so impressed I think I am likely to go to her. A lot depends on how my appointment goes Monday, Oct. 12, with the original doctor, but I'm reluctant to trust him again when he made the mistake of leaving my vertical upper lip columns off-center. And I want the outer part of the upper lip fuller. Why wouldn't he have taken care of that when he did the procedure the first time?

I've never been to Tijuana. Will I need a passport to go there, or what do they require when I cross the border? Do you know if there is any public transportation (train or bus) to get me there (I live in Los Angeles). I suppose I could fly. Actually I am probably more nervous about GETTING there than in having the doctor work on me. I'm grateful for your input on this.

Hi. Honestly the border crossing both ways is very painless. Driving from LA is easy. It's a 2.5hr drive drive to San diego and from here I have been to the clinic and back (for suture removal) in less than an hour. I just drive across the border, park at the clinic and drive back. I used goggle maps to find my way therewhich worked great in TJ and the clinic is just 10min away from the border. On the way back its just like driving across a toll road & you can either use a passport or a drivers license + birth certificate for proof of citizenship. I used to live in LA and getting to TJ and back is less stressful than getting from Hollywood to Santa Monica during rush hour : )

You could also take the train from LA to SD and from the SD train station there is a trolly that goes to the border. From there you can take the pedestrian crossing and once across it's a short cab ride to the office. There are also car services that can drive yout from San diego to TJ and back for about $100. I believe the Dr's office can arrange that for u.

Hello you look fab,If I was flying in from Dublin Ireland what airport is nearest to the surgery thank you
October 7, 2015
Hi. The closest airport in the US is the San Diego International Airport. San DIego airport is about 30min from the Dr's office in Tijuana. Tijuana also has an International airport which is very close to the office.
