Hello beautiful ladies! I am new to Realself - I have scheduled my surgery with Dr. Pantoja for Dec 3rd. I am very excited!!! I sent pics of me to him via email and got tons of information back, then I scheduled and appointment to meet with him and all went very well. His office is small but very clean and busy, his staff speaks perfect English but Dr. Pantoja does not however, my husband who does not speak Spanish was with me and I noticed the Dr. could understand a lot of his questions. Anywho, I was a little disappointed to find out that I will need an extensive tummy tuck as I have lots if skin that needs to be removed and I also need a good amount of lipo, that being said, he advised that I focus on the tummy tuck and lipo first, and then come back for the breast lift and implants. He said it is not recommended to have surgery for more than 4 hours and with all that I need done, that it would be too much for my body to take and can increase the possibility or risks. ***Has anyone been a patient of Dr. Pantoja? what tips and advise can you give me? Please, no negative comments as I have spent months researching Dr. Pantoja along with many other Dr.s and yes, he is board certified, he has good reviews, has been a surgeon for over 13 years and has no pending law suits. I welcome your experience, advise and tips for a successful surgery. Thank you! :)

I also had to break up my surgeries into two. I did my breast lift with implant replacement on January 6 and had my tummy tuck and lipo on June 29. He is an excellent doctor. The only thing I can say is that the tummy tuck with lipo surgery recovery is longer. I am still swollen but can already see the incredible results. He literally transformed my body! You're in good hands! :)

Wow! so only within 6 months you were able to get everything done? that is wonderful! do you have pictures? My biggest fear is blood clots resulting in a pulmonary embolism... He told me that I need to walk a lot starting now to avoid that and that he wants me to wear the compression socks for 2 full weeks post op, did you have to do that?

Also, was his price fair the second time around? He originally quoted me $7K for everything but now that I have to break it up, I fear the price will increase :(

Oh my! Why do they only use tramadol? How long were you in pain? What blips did you run into and how did you get them resolved? I tried getting everything you got but Pantoja said it would be too risky :(

The blips were the nurses were so sweet but couldn't really speak English, the tramadol was horrible made me vomit , couldn't eat for 4 days and the lipo was excruciating. It was scary being alone and feeling so awful. I can honestly say though the doc does always answer my emails, two plastic surgeons here said he did a good job,and I love my results! I love wearing form fitting clothing now:) just make sure you keep compression garment on everyday I stopped a couple days and swelling increased . You won't start to see the results of it for probably 6 wks feel free to message me:)

I'm sorry to hear you were in pain :( but you look amazing so it's true what they say... No pain, no gain lol! I will make sure to wear the compression garment at all times, I want to avoid as many complications as possible. Thank you so much for sharing :)

Yes, six months on the dot. I wanted it done ASAP! lol. My gf is taking pics tomorrow, so I can share those with you. And, yes, I was told to wear the socks for two weeks too. The price did increase by splitting into two surgeries (understandably) but safety was his biggest concern.

I really appreciate Dr. Pantoja's concern for our health. Definitely worth the extra cost. I just hope it's nothing too crazy.

Hi beautiful ladies! Today I had an appointment with my dentist who is also in TJ. She is amazing! And is right next to the border... If you need a great, professional and trustworthy dentist I can give you her info. Any who, since I was Already down there I decided to take Dr. Pantoja my deposit, he only requires $500 to save your date but I took him more so I don't spend it elsewhere. Hannia, who is very sweet and helpful. She took my cash, put it in an envelope and took a picture of it... Kinda weird, lol. She told me that as I paid to hold on to the receipts and bring them all with me the day of the surgery and payoff the balance before I go into surgery. She said to arrive at 9:00 on the 3rd, fasting so I can have my blood work done along with EKG with their cardiologist ( this is also included in the price) I told her I wanted to be the first one in surgery so Dr. Pantoja could have a fresh and rested mind. She said he only does 2 surgeries a day and rests and eats before the next one. She said depending on our lab work results; Dr. Pantoja will determine who needs to go first. Either way he starts operation around noon. My only issue with that is the fasting, I know I tend to get a little hypoglycemic after several hours of not eating :(. Anyone experience this at their surgery? How did you manage?

Which dentist do you use?

Hi Aknewbooty, it's called California Dental. Dra. Karina and her sister Dra. Karla. They are right by where the McDonald used to be as soon as you cross the border past the Yello taxi cabs. Her # is 619-730-2603. If you have Dental insurance u can use with them. I've had tons of work done since late last year and I have not paid a dime :)

And it's in Mexico once you cross the boarder? I'm looking to get a crown done at a low cost while I'm there getting my breasts done :)
User Avatar
July 17, 2015
Yes, if your driving, take the first left after you cross, pass the round about and make a left at the 2nd stop, follow that till you see a big yellow gate on your left, drive through the gate and get a ticket from the lady, your car is safe there.
User Avatar

If walking, just walk straight through the walkway that leads to the Yellow cabs, keep going till you come to where the old McDonalds used to be. Cross the street and walk past the first pharmacy on the left. Make an immediate left and she is the first dentistry on the left.

Recovery and Drains

Question for Dr. Pantoja's previous patients... So I have been doing some research on the recovery for Dr. Pantoja's patients and it seems that Dr. Pantoja does not use JP drains (a closed-suction medical device that is commonly used as a post-operative drain for collecting bodily fluids from surgical sites. The device consists of an internal drain connected to a grenade-shaped bulb via plastic tubing.) Instead, he leaves in short tube like drains sticking out and the patient drains on the pad beneath them. for those of you that have had your procedure with Dr. Pantoja...Is this true??? I read it is really messy and uncomfortable to sit and lay in a puddle of body fluids while recovering. I would also think that will increase the risk for infection as the end of the tube is just sticking out, not to mention that the JP drains help with suctioning of the fluids so you don't swell as much and your body is consistently draining all the fluid build up from the surgery as the JP is emptied when ever its full and then you squeeze the empty JP drains to promote consistent suction until it fills again... Can anyone clarify if this is indeed something that Dr. Pantoja practices and what your experience was with this? Thank you in advance for your feed back :)

My friend had tummy tuck 2 months ago with Dr. Pantoja and she did have a JP drain post op for over a week. For BBL only may be different

No problem...but like the other woman said, I think most surgeons don't use the drain bulbs for the bbl incision on the back right above the buttocks. That would be very uncomfortable. Lol
User Avatar
August 11, 2015
That makes sense, lol!
August 3, 2015
I had tt, lipo, and bbl. He does leave the drain open in the back. After having the bulb in the front I could not imagine dealing with it in the back. The drain is right above (if not in between) the split in your rear and yes it will be messy for the first few days. He will leave it open on a pad while you are at his facility then they will pad you in the garment on the day you leave. They took my open drain out on day 4 or 5 as well as the other 2 girls that stayed at the same recovery house.
August 11, 2015
Does Dr Pantoja visit at recovery house? If so which ones do you know?
August 12, 2015
He did not visit the recovery house while I was there but he called to check on us daily. I stayed at Our Friend recovery house formerly Club Med. It was 3 other people that were there during my stay who also had surgery with Dr.Pantoja. He (and his staff) showed the same concern if not more after our surgery as he did before the surgery.

Thanks for the info.

We didn't really discuss recovery homes as I live in SD and my husband will be taking time off work to take care of me. But he did mention that he requires the patient to remain 2 nights in his facility under 24/7 care by a nurse. That is included in the price you are quoted :)
