On 9/5/16 I made the bold decision to have gastric sleeve in Tijuana Mexico with Dr Illian Fraijo. I, like so many before me was terrified at the taught of having a major surgery in a foreign country. After much research and more research I choose Dr Illian because of his experience as a trauma surgeon, the amount of surgeries performed during his career and the amount of surges performed daily. I had originally chosen Dr Maytorena but getting in contact with the office proved difficult and I lost interest.

I arrived in San Diego and was escorted to Florence Hospital by the company's driver Arely. She was on time, professional and sweet (helped alleviate my fears), we arrived at Lucerna hotel (very nice) and I was promptly taken to Florence Hospital by Omar Acosta (pt coordinator). All paperwork was signed and I was prepped for surgery. I met Dr Illian just once prior to the operation, he was so kind and warm. I felt like he really respected me as a patient and not just another number. I said my prayers, talked to the nurse a little and the next thing I remember was waking up and asking when they were going to perform my surgery ????. I was transferred to my own private room and I was so out of it????! I just remember my legs feeling like noodles and so much pressure in my chest. Not fun! I. Tried my best and walked! Walk! Walk!! All night. For the 2 nights I stayed at the hospital I walked/slept all day and night. I had the gasX strips but the didn't do much for me. The nurses (Luis and Karime) were so kind and patient with me. Even though there was a bit of a language barrier, everything worked out great.
I spent the last 2 nights at Lucerna hotel and had a wonderful time.
More details later, bye for now!

18 days out

It has been 18 days out and I am doing ok. I can't say that it's been all rosy. I have days when I feel ok and other days not so much. I am exhausted at times, but I know that is part of the healing process. I try to walk daily for about 30 minutes, some days I have no appetite. Make sure you get in as much fluid as you can to avoid dehydration. As of September 5th I have lost 17lbs!! I'm so ecstatic! Can't wait to get back some energy though????
