surgery prep suggestions + things to look out for

I really wanted to let people know who are considering going to Dr. Lazos, the reality of the experience, some things I did that helped me, and that I did receive an unnecessary injury during surgery.
To be clear: It's a really painful and stressful procedure. You are awake the whole time and aware of everything that is going on. He's very fast and does a good job, but i'd say only 98% of the areas he was working on was numb, and the 2% that wasn't numb was very painful. I had a lot of pain on the right side of my cheek, close to my gum line, and a lot of pain in both corners of my lower jaw during the chin lipo. I took a klonopin beforehand and it helped tremendously. I have no idea how I would've gotten thru surgery without some kind of chemical chill-out.
During the chin lipo, he rested part of the cannula DIRECTLY on my chin- during lipo the cannula is moved very strongly and rapidly and repeatedly and this created chafing and scabbing where it was externally touching me. He could've easily put down a gauze pad or something to cushion my chin from the cannula. I would've like to avoid this totally extra injury. It hurt worse than any of the bruising or swelling, any site that got lipo, it hurt worse than the opening the cannula went into.
I tried to say something about it but it's pretty hard to talk when you're all numb and just got your buccal fat pads pulled out!!

The compression garment I received was a "Marena Recovery FM100" in Black, size Medium, with Mid Neck Coverage. I highly recommend ordering a second one from the company's website so you can keep them clean. I ordered mine after I was already home, and I wish I had had one prepared. It gets smelly fast.
I really recommend PROcure Bruise Remedy Gel. I applied to my bruises 2-3 times daily and they faded incredibly fast. It has a soft applicator tip to not irritate skin. It worked a lot better than plain arnica gel, which Dr. Lazos recommended.
I used nonstick gauze pads and Vitamin A&D Ointment to protect the scrapes on my chin and the hole created for the lipo from rubbing against the chin garment. Changed them as needed, every day or twice a day.
+++If you have long hair I recommend putting it into braided pigtails before surgery. The compression garment has a straight line that goes down the back of your head, and the assistant puts it on you while you're really out of it. My hair got bunched up and caught and was painful to take out the first time. After, I wore my hair in braided pigtails and in ways that were center parted and seperate so it was easy to just pull the hair through the holes in the garment.
REALLY IMPORTANT: Take probiotics before during after surgery! I had a really bad reaction to the antibiotics I was given, I got a really bad yeast infection and had to treat that while recovering from surgery, which was stressful. I wish I had prepared better by taking probiotics before/during/after. I did not finish the whole pack of antibiotics or pain meds I was given but it was fine for me. They really want you to finish all the antibiotics and tell you to do so but they were giving me such bad side effects.
happy healing to all!
I'm VERY very very happy w my results by the way, just wanted to share these tips and info, would definitely recommend Dr. Lazos but it's best to be as prepared as you can be!!

Dr. Lazos is running a very busy and seemingly very successful practice and does not have a lot of individuated time for clients. But he really gets it done!! At an incredible price point. I'm so grateful to him for helping me accomplish something I've always wanted and didn't think I would be able to afford. He, his office and his small staff are all lovely.

Hello did you have to get a passport to travel to Tijuana?
You don’t HAVE to but it is highly recommended the officers at the border can be jerks and send you to secondary if they decide to which will just be a much longer process to come back to the US
