Midface Lift with Eurothreads
I had the Eurothreads lift done for the midface in October 2021 to lift up my sagging cheeks and jowls. Not ready yet for the full face lift, so I thought I will give a thread lift a try. Dr. Ferguson marked my face, numbed the area covered by the hair just above each ear and placed four threads on each side. All four threads went trhough the same hole. Not sure why, but it was painful! I read that it was supposed to be pretty painless and was not prepared. It didn't hurt at the insertion site since it was numbed, but the pain from pushing the needle through the tissue was bad. On the positive side, it went away immediately after the thread was placed in. The results right after the procedure were amazing! Exactly what I wanted! My cheeks were there they supposed to be and the jowls were gone! I was given a post-op instructions and followed it for nearly four weeks. Why four weeks? Because this is how long it took to recover from the procedure! There was minimal swelling and no bruising. The discomfort I felt can be described as having tight strings under the skin on each side on you face and you feel it with a slightest face movement. They recommend not to sleep on your side or smile widely since the threads can break or move. It should not be called a "recommendation" but a list of things you wouldn't be able to do for four weeks! Can't smile, laugh, yawn, sleep on the side, floss, blow you nose. For two weeks I slept with a band around my face and it helped to relive some of discomfort at night. One side took longer to heal than another. I guess a nerve was hit by the needle right under the jaw bone under my left ear. The pain from this spot radiated down the shoulder and it stayed tender to the touch for over a month. I have had my share of cosmetic procedures and will tolerate a lot to get the anticipated results. But after one week my face started to droop. One month later about 90% of jowls came back and about 30% of midface lift remained. Disappointing. There is a lots of firm scar tissue felt around the threads right under the skin on my cheeks. I wonder if it will become visible as I get older and the skin gets thinner. I am not sure if something went wrong with my procedure, or my expectations were too high. I have had other things done by Dr. Ferguson and quite happy with results. But for me, the thread lift was not worth the money considering the recovery time and results.
