Thread Lift - my experience

Well, the sagging is returning. Mostly on the side that was worse. It hasn’t returned completely, but I am disappointed. I’d hoped it would last longer. Still looks okaaaay from the front, but with my hair pulled back and from the side...not so much.
I will say that I was very happy with the immediate results, but considering the usual cost, recovery process and length of the results, I don’t think I would do it again. It’s probably time to investigate a surgery lift.
I hate to dissuade anyone else - I know everyone has a different experience, but I do hope this helps others!

This is helpful. I turn 50 in February and have been thinking about doing this. I appreciate you sharing your experience.
I more thing - what it DID do was give me a bit of a preview of what surgery lift results will look like (I specifically asked)! So if your local medspa has a good promo on this procedure (that’s what I did) I may be worth it!
Hi recommend Kybella. Mine are gone!

Day 4

Still loving the result from the front. Some jowling still visible from the side, but MUCH improved. So far, I’m happy. I’m writing this on day 5 and I’m still recovering and experiencing the barbs when chewing or moving my mouth in the wrong way. Full disclosure - it IS painful, but temporary and manageable with OTC meds. I have a follow up on day 7 just to make sure everything is as it should be, especially still feeling the barbs. Will continue to update!

How do you feel about the results now? Your photos look good!
ORIGINAL POST

Thread Lift - My Experience

Just turned 50 and the sagging jowls are driving me crazy. Got a consult on a lower facelift but I prefer small steps before making any dramatic changes (and big financial commitments!).
I was given three meds about 30 minutes before the procedure (Norco, something to relax me and something for swelling) and I’m glad I did. I was given numbing cream and then a local anesthetic.
I had 4 threads on each side of my lower face. The needles are inserted through the hairline, so no visible scarring. It feels...odd and somewhat uncomfortable when the place each thread - more painful when they push through the skin/muscle closer to your nose and mouth. Then when they plant the barbs, they sort of press down on the thread all the way back up to the hairline and you can feel them snapping into place.
The post procedure instructions including sleeping sitting up (they don’t want you to sleep on either side of your face), no rubbing your face, no makeup or exercise, and no excess chewing or chewing hard foods. I couldn’t really chew at all, so be prepared to eat yogurt, mashed potatoes, etc..
The post procedure pain: manageable with OTC pain meds, extra strength, mind you! The twinges of the barbs when you open your mouth too quickly or chew too much will stop you in your tracks. My jaw felt achey, like after dental surgery. But it is getting better each day. Still chewing very daintily on my third day out.
Pics and updates to follow!

Thanks for sharing the details of how you're getting on! It's great to read you're already starting to feel improvements each day.

You look great!
Can you tell us the name of the doctor and cost?
Dermfx in Sunset Beach, CA. The usual
Cost is about $3k but they had a promo for $1200. Can’t yet say if I would be willing to pay full price, it depends on how long it lasts. I’m happy with the results now, but still not sure how much of that is swelling. And if it only last 6 months, I’m not sure I would do it again. I’ve read it can last 1 to 3 years for some, in which case it would be totally worth it!
Looks REALLY good!!
