I have been researching SmartLipo and many other procedures for awhile now but kept coming back to the SmartLipo. It appealed to me because it's more "instant" and has the skin tightening laser. Other options such a CoolScultiping didn't give me the "instant" gratification I was seeking. I put quotes around instant because I realize that after any surgery there IS downtime for healing.
I am fairly petite, and overall am accepting of my weight and body. I am 5'3" and prior to signing up for the surgery weighed between 128-130. After signing up I tried to lose as much weight as I could and got down to 121 and lost 1 size (signed up about 2.5 weeks prior to surgery. I have 3 amazing children and am one of the lucky few that didn't get any stretch marks and minimal skin sagging. The only time my stomach might look funky is if I am leaning forward and all the fat falls down making it look rippled and like a normal post pregnancy with sagging stomach (hope that makes sense).
I recieved consults from 3 plastic surgeons. All 3 with very different opinions on what I needed. Even though with all 3 I went in to discuss SmartLipo but was open to hearing all options. The first one said traditional liposuction which would have cost approximately $3500, the second said a liposuction and tummy tuck for approx $7000. And the third SmartLipo and was $3100 if we did it at her office or about $4500 at the hospital. I decided to do the less expensive option because I wanted to save money and trusted the doctor regardless of location. The doctor was also very friendly and I appreciated that she didn't try to sell me anything I didn't want. She also confirmed what I thought as well, that I did not need a tummy tuck because I have minimal saggy skin and not too much stomach buldge.
The doctor also worked with me on a payment plan. When I went in for a consult I wasn't really expecting to sign up so when I did I slightly panicked. It's not that I don't have money, I make over 6 figures yearly but I tend to budget everything like crazy. They let me pay $1000 weekly. So I paid $1000 at the consult and then the remainder over the next 8 days.
I was a bit of a slacker regarding getting my physical and blood work done in a timely manner. I just had too much going on with work, kids and the Thanksgiving holiday to find much time but I was able to get my blood work back to them by the requested date, and I got my physical the day before from a CVS minute clinic. I do not have a primary care physician who I can call on at any time so had to go where I could when I had the time. I truly appreciate that the doctor and her staff were so patient and willing to work with me.
I will be updating all of my doctors information after I'm fully healed but if you are specifically seeking someone in the Thousand Oaks, CA area I would be more than happy to privately send her info. I'm so far very happy with the results.

48 hours post procedure
During the procedure in the doctors office I was given a cocktail of sedatives to relax me. They definitely worked and I was pretty out of it for the next 24 hours. I was also in a bit of pain afterward. I was prescribed Vicodin for the pain but they weren't working well for me. Instead of easing pain, I more or less experienced a head high where my head and mind were calm but my body ached. At my 24 hour follow up appointment the doctor gave me a new prescription for Tylenol 4, which seem to help more except now I get a headache after it wears off.
During the first 24 hours I had quite a bit of drainage. It was pretty weird watching the watery pink liquid almost pour from the small wounds but it has since stopped. I found that using a feminine pad helped soak up the leakage much better than any medical pads.
My abdomen is pretty swollen. My belly button looks deformed but I'm hopeful that when the swelling goes down that it will look more normal. I can see the results and they look pretty good so far, minus the swelling.

72 hours - 3 days post. Itching
The pain is slowly fading but it's hard to get up from a laying down position. It also hurts to bend at the waist, you ever realize how much you use your stomach and waist doing simple things like getting in and out of a car, bending over, vacuuming...
I was behind on starting the Arnica but bought some tablets today from Trader Joes. I feel like my stomach looks the same, still swollen. But it doesn't hurt by the slightest of touch Anymore. But the pain comes and goes. I also seem to be experiencing a lot of itching on my stomach. Frustrating but a light touch usually alleviates it.
Here are some pics from today. My belly button is looking a little swollen but less than yesterday. I can see the super thin sutcher strings and one of the bruises is pink.
