I thought IPL was pretty fool-proof, but the RN who performed it obviously had the settings too high. My face has a dark and light pattern on it three weeks after and I am now going to a real dermatologist to try to even it out. I wish I never would've trusted my face to her and I am paying for it now!

Mary Sands at Good to Great tried to tell me that "this happens" sometimes. When she did the IPL, she said I would have little dark spots that would flake off in seven to ten days. NOT TRUE. I am not going to a real dermatologist who said she had the settings too high and is trying to help me. I am hoping to be somewhat evened out in the next several months.

I'm so sorry to hear you are having to go thru this. Please keep us updated - I'm curious what the derm has to say.

I had the same issue year and half back. I had zebra marked face. Last year has been very depressing for me. Still my marks are there. I tried glycolic peel but it didn't work that much. Please let me know what your Derm is suggesting.

Sorry to hear of another victim of IPL! I hope your face eventually gets better. Please be sure to make an adverse event report to the FDA's adverse event medical database. If enough people make reports, hopefully the safety of these devices will finally improve. You can report at: https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/medwatch/index.cfm?action=reporting.home

Sorry to hear of your experience of IPL. I know what you have been through and the only way to teach these inexperienced cowboy clinics is to take them to court and get the justice you deserve.

A real Dermo fixed my face!

I went to Jasmine at Dermotology Assosciates of Westlake and she did four gentle IPL treatments and the marks are gone. Use a real Dermo!!! Not an esthetician!!!! And never Good to Great in Thousand Oaks!

You have given me hope. The derm gave me ipl&yag last October . Have had adverse effects. I have white and brown patches, textural changes too . Apparently I was tanned even though I may not have seemed I was. I'm phototype 1. I'm going to look for help in the near future.

I have scars from IPL burns too! It happened four years ago. I recently got up the nerve to let a Dr try IPL again to see if it might at least fade around the white scars so it won't be as noticeable. Could you post a recent "after" picture? I would love to see the results you got!

Had the same sort of scars/dark marks from fraxel. Performed by a dermatologist. Told them I had been on Retin-A periodically for 25 yrs..pre-op prep and power set extremely high for my sensitive skin. When I pointed this out at a follow-up visit.the Dr. ensued that it was neglect in my part.. I'm over it now since that was 7 yrs ago..but MUCH smarter from the experience.
