Revision Incisions

Update to my revision! Attached photos of the incisions, but forgot to grab a photo of the small incision by my knee.
The recovery pain from the revision definitely felt worse the first few days, likely because it was done under local anaesthetic. More burning, more tenderness to the incisions, more pain over all. BUT, I’ve definitely felt better, more mobile, more able to walk and move. Steadier on my feet, feeling stronger because there’s no recovering from a general anaesthetic, so that’s really great. I am happy I booked the week off work and next week I’ll take it as it comes, likely do some part time days to ease in. I like to baby my recovery and incisions!

Revision Surgery

So I had an appointment with Dr. Ladak back on February 12th for a follow up and we discussed a revision. I wanted to get it done ASAP so I paid a bit extra to get in at Meadowlark on March 1st instead of waiting til May for the Kaye Clinic.
Revision was done yesterday and took about an hour to an hour and a half. Showed up at 11 and out by 1pm. It was performed under local anaesthetic, which was interesting! I’ve never had a procedure under local before. The worst part was the needles for freezing, and boy was there a lot of them. As usual Dr. Ladak and the staff there were all amazing.
The revision was a bit more extensive than I thought it would be, I probably have 12 inches of incisions, and it feels like the pain/burning/tightness might be a bit worse than the initial surgery, but I honestly can’t recall. It makes sense though as it was done with just freezing. I haven’t had a good look at the results yet as they are wrapped up in tensors and bandaged but it does definitely look like my concerns were addressed nicely.
I’ll upload the pics of the mark up for the revision and will take some of the work done later on.

3 Months Post

Surgery was 3 months ago as of yesterday, which feels crazy. I’m back at work full time and on my feet 6+ hours a day. My legs get tired, they swell, and by the end of the week I’m exhausted haha. BUT I also wear 3-4 inch heels most days and do so with no leg pain, however it’s obvious how weak my leg muscles are.
I’ve started working out in earnest again and I’m knee deep into getting my personal training certification. My leg muscles are weak and it doesn’t take much to make them tired and the delayed onset muscle soreness is actually pathetically bad. But it’s getting better! I’m going slow and letting my body take the lead in what I’m ready for. I’m back into my pole fitness as well (#supportsexworkers who pioneered the fitness/art) and tried my first thigh grip the other day. It hurts LESS after surgery! It’s so much easier to grip the pole without the loose skin and far less painful. The skin pull before was definitely causing a lot of the pain in the grip!
I’ve added updated photos of the incisions. I’ve also got a lump formed under the one incision, Dr. Ladak is thinking it’s just scar tissue build up, I’ll massage it every day up til my February follow up and see what happens!
Also threw in a still frame of my pole practice the other night, scars currently at a 5/6 foot distance, filter applied.
