Recovering slowly and steadily

Update: My blood count is normal and kidneys etc are good. The swelling has gone down tremendously! The pain is manageable. I’ve lost most of the fluid I’ve gained!!

I’m still recovering and I get tired easily, but that’s my body healing. The results are great, the doctor was great, but again, I would never do this again! This was a scary journey for me personally!
Beauty and vanity does have its cost!

Large Volume Thigh Liposuction

Let me start by saying this, nothing, I mean nothing I’ve read or heard prepared me for the PAIN and SWELLING! My journey is one of total regret!

I had my liposuction done 8/26/19. The first day I could see the results and I was happy! Then it went downhill from there! I began to swell 3 times bigger than what my thighs were originally. Because I had a large amount of fat removed, I stay overnight as a precaution.

I got out of the hospital with no problems, just the swelling and Pain! I was doing ok until that Friday. I went in on a Monday, got out on a Tuesday. By Friday when I began to walk I was short of breath and felt really tired. On top of feeling like that, the pain and swelling was out of this world! I cried and regretted having the procedure! I began to tell myself I wasn’t so bad before so why!!!!!

By Saturday morning, I was very sick! My husband took me to the ER. There they found I was Anemic and had low potassium. By this time, I could barely walk without getting tired. Results came back that I needed a blood transfusion! I was very frightened! I was thinking about my 3 years old daughter and my 9 years old son! God!!! What have I done!!! I wanted out, I wanted to turn back the clock, I felt doomed and felt I put myself into a bad situation.

Listen to this, after hearing the news I needed a blood transfusion, I was still swelling! I gained over 50 pounds of fluid in 6 days!!!!!! My feet, legs, toes , thighs, backside were all hard as a rock! Just to graze my thighs sent me into tears!

Now that I find myself in this situation, death was constantly on my mind! Oh the fear! Oh the worrying about my babies!! God!!! I felt so stupid for taking a chance like this!

Later that night in the hospital, they gave me a blood transfusion. They gave me fluids and potassium. About a hour after the transfusion, I went from pale to my natural tone! I could walk without feeling out of breath. I felt ok, just ok because the PAIN and now my thighs swollen like a balloon! But I thank God for the blood I needed so.

My son wanted to stay with me over night so he could help me but he was too young. My hubby had to care for our 3 years old, so they all had to leave me!! That’s when another round of fear came over me!!! My family wasn’t there to comfort me and I wondered if I’d see them again!

As the night turned early morning, I was up! I couldn’t sleep! I barely could walk. They gave me just Tylenol. I never went to sleep! I was looking gaunt in the face even though my bottom half of my body was swollen beyond recognition!

I was able to go home. I was happy to be in my bed and home but my energy was still low and I had no appetite! I was barely urinating even though I was pump with IV fluids and once I got home, I began to drink, electrolytes and take iron pills.

When I did urinate, the smell......, the strange particles that was floating around in there! I had long brown pieces, blood clots, strange stuff!I had a urinal by my bed because once I had to go, I had to go with force and sometimes I couldn’t make it to the potty!

Day 10 still swollen very little urine now I was up to 60 pounds of fluid! I made an appointment to see my GP doctor. It was confirmed I was still anemic but not so bad as to need a blood transfusion. My blood count/? was 9.2. That’s was low and at that level I still was tried easily. Good news is I didn’t have a urinary tract infection! I was just urinating junk out!

Day 11 I stay up all night urinating out fluids! Yay I said! But I was far from out of the woods! On day 12 I lost 14 pounds of fluid from the night before! In less than 24 hours! Day 13, another 15 pounds of fluid lost! Day 14 another 8 pounds of fluid. I assume this will continue until it’s all out.

It’s now Day 16 I no longer have pig feet’s or swollen bottom legs and my thighs have gone down significantly! However, they are still swollen and painful to touch.

Day 16 I went out with my family to an opening of a new center. I walked more than I had ever walked since my procedure. I had to sit down a lot and I was in agony at times but I put on a good face for my family.

I came home and got straight away in bed and propped my feet. Oh the pain! This pain is relentless! I have to go back next week to my doctor to check my blood count. I’m still depressed and I’m still worried about my health, but that because I’m overwhelmed by what I have gone through and still going through after 3 weeks!

Note: Large volume liposuction will cause:
1. Extreme pain
2. Extreme swelling
3. Blood transfusion if too much is sucked out
4. Itching
5. Burning( especially when water hits your skin)
6. Difficulty sleeping
7. Depression due to inability to move around
8. Urinating strange things out
9. Dehydration
10. Lost of electrolytes
11. Longer period of healing than most procedure
12. Extreme bruising
13. Anemic (severe)

This is not a light procedure! This is major! Make sure you give yourself a month, before you see results. Make sure you know it comes with great pain and everyone is different!

I will update my results in the future. I really want everyone to truly understand that some procedures are not a walk in the park! Know that things could go wrong just like they could go right!
