Thigh Lift Not As Easy As Reviews Made It Seem

$10,000
I have wanted a thigh lift for over 30 years. After numerous consults of which I was told I didn’t have enough loose skin or pushed into thermitight or Cryo (made it worse) I had given up the search . After stalking real self for years I finally made a consult with a doc a plane ride away. His reviews were great. Met with him, decided to go with a inner /medial thigh lift from groin to just below knee .
My reason for this review was because every previous review I had seen or read made it seem like a piece of cake surgery . Hell no, this is not easy . I’ve seen you tube videos of post op patients sitting up eating, smiling, chatting. That’s not real life . I’m wasn’t able to get up and out of bed unassisted without risk of tearing a stitch until day 12. It’s currently day 14 and I’ve had my first bowel movement . So combined with not being able to go to the bathroom along with leg pain it’s no treat. I’m having my husband force my knees flat because I’m walking with them bent forward as they don’t want to stretch very easily .
I was told that two weeks off was enough . No way … Either previous posters didn’t work or had desk jobs because I am not nor will I be ready to work for a few more weeks .
Things I wish I would have known:
1. Can’t sleep on your side as your sutures will touch and very uncomfortable .
2. Constipation is real.
3. Need assistance getting in and out of bed to avoid ripping sutures ( can lead to infections and longer healing time)
4. Drink protein shakes ( they are your friend)
5. It was mandatory to go to a after care recovery center and get a foley. I fought it hard but now realize how much additional pain it saved me.
Will it be worth it, I sure hope so. If you have questions or comments please PM me and I will respond.

Man, I am considering getting one. I can take two weeks off of work around the holidays. Not this year, next year I am considering it. I have lost a lot of weight years ago, but now as I age, the inner thigh skin is loose.
Please allow more time off . I’m on day 15 and I still can’t stretch my legs straight out. Sitting is difficult and slow. The risk of tearing a stitch is high. I’d still do it even dealing with this now . I just want people to understand this surgery is serious. I’m a healthy , 128lb 50 year old with no medical issues and it’s kicking my butt .
Just a couple questions, would it help to sleep in a recliner for a couple weeks? Wondering if taking laxatives would’ve prevented the constipation. I’m a nurse and plan to have this surgery at some point but wondering how long I’ll need off from work. I suppose a lot depends on each individuals recovery and if any complications arise. I was planning 4 weeks but not sure that’ll be enough?!?
Hi! I am day 6 post op from a medial thigh lift and boy you are right! I workout 5 days a week and am 42 years old! I had Lipo to my left out thigh as well and boy is that side so much more swollen then the right! Thankfully just taking Advil since Wednesday but still feel like garbage from the anesthesia. Cant wait for this swelling to subside I truly believe that is half the pain!! Good luck I hope you turn a corner here soon!!
Thanks for this. I am almost 8 weeks and I had a hard time relating to any review or person here. Everything you said I agree ! I wasn’t prepared for the recovery , I couldn’t believe they said I’d be working out at 6-8 weeks, no way. The bending of the knee, the constipation..it’s a long recovery. I am still trying to heal a few incision sites. how are you doing now ?
