One-Year Update and Some Annoyed Comments

It has now been just a little over a year since my facelift/necklift/upper and lower blepharoplasty. I am still satisfied with my results. I do want to mention that I still have a feeling of flushing in my cheeks several times a week. It will come on all of a sudden for no apparent reason (not from exertion) and fade away in a few minutes. These aren't the same as hot flashes, which involve the torso as well. I think it's because there is still some mild swelling in the cheeks. Also, the skin over my cheekbones hasn't completely regained the sensitivity to touch that it had before, so maybe it isn't going to at this point. I don't see these things as problems, just differences from before. I thought it might help someone else if I mentioned them.
Recently someone (Peterr) commented that the tragi of my ears have "almost completely disappeared", and he made a rather hostile remark about Dr. Chartchai's work. I vehemently disagree and I do not like people making unjust aspersions here about such a conscientious and meticulous doctor. By coincidence I had just been reading some comments about ears that Peterr had made on someone else's review. I would respectfully suggest to Peterr that he post his own review if he's unhappy about something that was done to him.
I don't regret going out of the country for my surgery. I would do it again. I must point out that my surgery took place in a hospital that is accredited by the International Joint Commission. I had the services of an anesthesiologist and I spent two nights in the hospital. I feel that I was safer under these circumstances than I would have been as an outpatient here in the US.
I have posted before-and-after collages of my ears. I googled images of the external ear, and I believe my tragi to be within the normal range. They are maybe just slightly less pointed than before. It's something I hadn't noticed at all previously and it doesn't bother me a bit. People can decide for themselves. I've gotta say, though, that if we're going to have our bodies surgically altered, things may not turn out exactly as we hope. I'm not trying to excuse negligence; every doctor should absolutely follow the standard of care. But let's be reasonable in our expectations.

Before-and-after photos

After posting these before-and-afters as small files, I wan't too happy with them, so this is a do-over.

6 months post-op; a final update

I just took some 6-month photos to send to Dr. Chartchai. There hasn't been much visible change in my face since my 3-month update, but I thought I would post some before-and-after comparisons. I used some free software called Fotor. Lately I have been wondering if my appearance has changed much, but now that I see the before-and-afters, I can see that it has. I'm still glad that I had this done, although I wouldn't want to go through it all again. I feel like it took over my life for awhile.

I'm pleasantly surprised that I still have more volume in my cheeks than before the surgery; I thought that would be gone by now. I see other procedures that I would like to have done (Botox, fillers in my lips, etc.), but I'm trying not to think about them!

Even now at 6 months post-op, my face still doesn't feel what I would call totally normal, but it's getting better all the time. There's still some slight numbness in front of my ears. I can still feel tightness in the incision areas when there's tension on them. I have no complaints, though.

Good luck to all in their cosmetic surgery journeys!

Dr. Chartchai always greeted me warmly. He listened to my desires and patiently answered my questions. He is well known in Bangkok for his blepharoplasty experience. He has a calm and confident manner. He doesn't talk down to the patient. At the consultation appointment, he gives the patient his personal cell phone number.
