I have just counted myself all the negative reviews and instead of 20 “not sure” ones there are 60... and it’s not 87 “not sure” marked reviews, but 266!!! This page has a lot to answer for, by misleading women about this surgery. Satisfaction rate is NOT 96% at all, but probably 60%!!

3 years post surgery
It's been nearly 3 years since I had this life changing operation. No positive changes unfortunately, I am still in pain and with sensation issues, still taking medication and it's the only way I can function really. Sex is impossible, it's too painful and I have 24/7 burning in my genitals, plus I have minimal sensation, so sex is not appealing anymore, libido is completely gone...
It's been three long years and every day and every second I am reminded by pain just how devastating this procedure has been to my life . Honestly, if this wasn’t so easily available I would just be living with my natural labia, happy and healthy. It hurts so much to see more and more women falling victims of this totally unnecessary butchery and so many tragedies could be avoided.
I learnt that my left side was overrescted and triggered nerve pain, this can happen if they leave less than 1 cm of labial skin, and that’s what he did. It’s ironic, I chose that surgeon because he was very conservative in his method, and yet, he oversected and ruined me.
I have now learnt that labia is not "just the skin", but a vital part of sex organ and needed for blood flow and engorgement for sexual arousal. Labia is attached to clitoris via frenulum for a reason, there is a biomechanical importaint function and that tugging is essential for sex. I came cross a few reviews here where women report sensation reduction due to that tugging gone. Many surgeons cut at frenulum and therefore clitoris will require a more direct and agressive stimulation, as labia will not pull on it anymore.
I have also learnt that men prefer much more natural larger labia than "done vulva", nobody wants to play with scars really.. but with healthy sensitive labia.
The doctors do not know female genital anatomy in their vast majority, otherwise they would not be amputating labia or operate on clitoris. By the way, thanks to courageous Jessica Pin, clitoral anatomy is now being published and shared more and more, her mission is to make sure the drs are educated on clitoral anatomy before they go near this amazing organ.Believe it or not, most drs do not undergo residency training for these surgeries, my plastic surgeon had no idea how pelvic nerves are connected to labia and this cost me my health and well-being. As far as he was concerned he was cutting "the skin" only.
I am publishing pictures of clitoral cross section so that you can see how close dorsal nerve is to hood surface, the scary part is that many drs can operate on the hood with no consent, saying later it was necessary.
The journalist I was in touch with said that as many as 33% women getting this done have some sort of complication, and up to 5% will get serious complications (like myself), this is insane..
It's extremely sad to women getting this unnecessary and harmful surgery for no reason, only because they are told that smaller labia is more attractive? This is not true, certain studies show that protruding labia is seen as more attractive and women with larger labia have more sensation. It's beyond disturbing to see in Q&A section, how women with small labia are told they they would benefit from labiaplasty?! Those doctors are literally saying that any woman should have this procedure done! some pictures demonstrate very small labia, I cannot believe my eyes sometimes what I am reading.
Almost all post-op photos show vulvas with scarring and "done look", boobed and groove edges are very common. Maybe only 2-3 cases overall where I could say there was no sign of surgery..
Another very worrying and actually ridiculous fact is that female surgeons advocate for this procedure?? I saw female surgeons telling women their labia is enlarged and needs to be tucked in, no seriously, are they all innies themseles?! The study shows 70% of women are outies. So, basically this is a made up idea of small inner labia being attractive. This is not true at all. Look at guys comments on large labia sites and porn, they prefer and love larger labia, they say it's sexier. However, no man will choose his woman for her labia size.
What I find totally disgusting and traumatic is drs tell damaged women that the "problem is between their ears" and not between their legs... they suggest that they see a shrink, becase the symptoms they report cannot be from this surgery?! Seriously, this is quite a common advice. So, a woman is in pain clearly after this surgery or reports loss of sensation and they suggest she has a mental problem? They dont even realise that they are answering to a person who is potentially contemplating suicide:( Let me tell you, they know very well that these issues are more than possible with LP, but they wont say it, too damaging for the industry.

Wish I would’ve seen this before hand. Just had mine the beginning of May. Worst mistake I have ever made. Thank you for sharing your story
I am so sorry.. :( what happened?
I went in for a labiaplasty and basically she amputated both of my labia’s, I still have some on the right side. It was four weeks yeaters at and I have burning/itching when it rubs on stuff and when I touch it. I still have feeling in both of them and in my upper vulva. But I’m terrified the itching and burning won’t go away after reading your post. I feel like a lot of people are back to normal after four weeks. So confused now on how doctors perform so many “Barbie style” labiaplasty’s and have no complaints of nerve damage.
I am at 4 weeks as well and still have itching/burning it’s normal. Give it some more time.
Sorry to hear you were amputated..:( your dr is clearly a hack, however, give it more time, 4 weeks it's still early days, stay positive, hope the burning stops soon
Did you have early symptoms? I don’t really have a problem with sitting and walking. But as soon as I wipe or even poke at it, it’s uncontrollable itching. Terrified for sex if this itching keeps up. If it’s such a normal side effect I’m wondering why more people aren’t talking about it
I never had itching.. I had burning in my left labia a couple of weeks after the procedure.. nerves clearly got cut and fired up, then pain went deep into pelvis and other nerves joined in, I was in agony.. later I learnt nerves cross talk and one nerve can trigger many others. Hope the itching subsided and you are feeling better
I also had uncontrollable itching. I'm only 4.5 weeks post op and the itching has gone but still have general pain along where my labia used to be and now is just a cavern down there. How is the healing for you now after all these months?
I’m so sorry. I just had labiaplasty done last week (without doing my research/reading all the ‘not worth its’ and I’m terrified that that’s going to be my outcome. At times when I move, I get a shooting pain up into my upper pelvic/lower abdomen area. Do you think that’s nerve damage?
I’m wondering now if I should cancel my labia plasty/clitoral hood reduction I booked it for January with a breast augmentation.... I’m very uncomfortable in panties, leggings, working out etc
Only you can decide..
I hope whatever you do you will be healthy and happy
@ashleysok, please reconsider doing it. I just got mine done and after reading these comments (which I just now saw
How did yours go???
Ashley, are you asking me how mine went? Sorry I don’t know my whole comment didn’t post. I did just respond to you on another post :) but I can go into more detail if you want.
I highly discourage you from having this surgery done. Unless your labia are bothering you physically, it’s not worth the risk. I had mine done one week ago by a board certified surgeon (which I just learned that doesn’t mean much at all - doesn’t make them qualified) who does them routinely (I don’t know how long she’s been doin them though) and I look like I’ve been mitigated. It appears that she removed almost all of my labia minora. Please read my review that I posted yesterday. I’ve never been so depressed and worried in my life. Please if you do, not have the trim method done. Even other methods such as wedge can have bad outcomes, but trim seems to be the worst.

18 months post LP
Can’t believe it’s been 18 months since my surgery. Here is an update: nerve issue is still ongoing and incurable, I am on medication and still have bad pain., I cannot exercise, sit for too long, walk for too long, have sex or pursue a career; this is my life now thanks to this procedure. I am also quite sure my surgeon has not lost his sleep over it, he continues performing this surgery despite knowing he ruined my life and those around me. If I didn’t have children, my life would be pointless, but they need me, so I have to wake up for them. This is it, one stupid decision has destroyed me; my story is one of many unfortunately, for as long as LP is available and unregulated , many women will continue to be botched and left to deal with it for the rest of their lives

In my case I didn’t do this in depth of research until AFTER the procedure. Doctors are supposed to be trusted when we ask what the risks are and their unconcerned nature of everything will be fine confuses me. I’m 12 days post op. What were your symptoms and how soon did they start? I sometimes have a shooting prickly pain but nothing ibuprofen and a Benedryl can’t fix. I’m terrified now.
I had a raw feeling, burning on my left labia.. 10-12 days post LP, I thought it was healing, now I know it was neuropathic pain. My worst pain started 4 weeks post surgery, escalating from that point and going deep into pelvis. I read on here some girls have shooting pains like you, but then they subside.. don’t worry you will be ok, don’t stress, and no, drs would never admit complications like mine happen, their dismissal of serious risks cost me my health and normal life.
Yeah did you have your labia amputated? I’m curious cause even with my original labia size those were sat on pinched/ twisted damaged to beyond and you would think that women with labia would have reputation of nerve damage all the time. Unless it was cut by the clitoris or something but I am so sorry this happened to you :( have you seen structural integration therapist? Have you been checked for a pinched nerve? Things that come to mind when I’ve come across people with nerve damage or nerve pain is the structural integration aka Rolfing, chiropractic work, physical therapy, needling, and using a fascia blaster.
Pudental Nerve is irritated, and cluneal can be pinched or stretched due to positioning during surgery. Tried PT, dry needling and fascia workout, symptoms persist of neurological origin, only medications help some
Oh my god :’( I am so sorry! I hope and pray there is something that can release it!
Hey Shellee! I was trying to answer you but there is a note that your private messages are Out of use.. :/
Thy cut me off by the look of it, I messaged the admins. How are you?
Things Have changed much in last few months.. My vulvar pain has disappeared !!! I think i suffered a Minor nerve damage And it took a year that those nerves to Be "recovered". But i havent Been able to enjoy much about My recovery cause i have other new health issues (this botched surgery/pain/trauma Have Been very hard on overall health And well being) And now trying to build new health. But Even though our cases are diffirent i now believe even stronger you can Also get better. Time is The best medicine .... And The worst is not knowing If it is gonna end !
Wow I am so happy for you! Great news.. now you can work holistically and with drs on your emotional being and I am sure you will soon b ok.
For me not sure what will happen.. I am the same, but my damage is way more serious

If you have no complications, consider yourself lucky, but nobody needs this procedure. Most drs who offer LP are self-taught, let it just sink in... if I saw such a review before booking my surgery I would have never ever done it. This surgery has one of the highest complications rates, with devastating results. Nerve damage elsewhere is not that life changing as in your vulva. Sorry, but if it was only me then I would see it as a bad luck, but since this happened to me, I got connected with so many women who suffered so much from this and ALL wish they had their old labia back. It's not only my life that is ruined, but many many others, was it worth it?? I was not warned about major nerve damage, and if he didnt know this, then he shouldnt perform it. It's not just the skin, it's an important part of your sex organ full of nerves. Again, those who are ok afterwards are lucky, we are all wired differently. Many doctors commenting in this page botched women, so all those "reputable" top surgeons are no experts at all, they simply cannot see the nerves and women are not educated on their anatomy and labia role in sex life. Some women post photos of their tiny labia and all those surgeons tell them how they would benefit from LP! They literally say this to all women, Even with very small labia! So telling a 18 year old girl that she will benefit from this surgery is beyond unethical.
the point that a random co worker talked about this botched story that had to be a sign from god and led me to your post.
I want you to know you probably have just saved my life and thankyou for all the infromation. Im reading articles on girls loosing sensation and pain that they will be suffering for the rest of their lives. on of the california doctors said that more than half of this patients from labiaplasty are botched and have pain issues that cant be reversed.
Please know your a blessing, and just saved the biggest mistake of my life. Im going to learn how to love myslef, there is no normal labia , each one is beautiful
