Completely deflated and slightly asymmetrical...

Completely deflated and slightly asymmetrical chest (34a/ 32b), very athletic, slim build, so once I turned 30 yrs old, I knew it was time to actually look like a 30 year old ( and not a 12 yr old)! I've always been small, but when my VS swim bottoms became a sz medium, and I couldn't even fill out a small top, that was a major eye-opener. I've been wearing double silicone inserts in a 34c bra for about the past 6-8months in prep for the change. It's helped a lot, but I've been so limited in regards to the type of tops that I can wear( since the double inserts aren't exactly smooth and natural). It's been 48 hrs post op, and I think they look great so far. Super natural and proportionate. Might have been able to go 1 size up, but my husband says they're really nice as-is. He's probably right. I'm telling you ladies, looking at breasts for the past 6 months straight has completely skewed my perception. My advice would be to stick to looking at only pictures of those desired outcomes that you actually want for yourself. There are so many beautiful images of 22-25 year olds with 36D breasts on 25" waists out there, but if that is not your desired look or even in the realm of possibility for you, just steel clear of those images. This is about YOU and YOUR desired results that you'll be living with!
Pre-op issues: I had a tough time getting SX clearance from my PCP due to autoimmune issues with RA/LUPUS markers in my blood. Took 3 sets of labs, and 1 visit to the hematologist/oncologist! Completely freaked out at that point, but all was well and she gave me more insight into my body. I love that the dr's were all so precautions. The SX was initially scheduled for 10.3, then pushed to 10.10 due to that 3rd set of labs. Some extra changes with wk scheduling was needed, but totally worth the trouble. I couldn't find much info out there on the web in regards to RA and BA's, so if you're in that same boat, just stay on top of your rhuematologist and PS for more info on your condition.
The day of SX my husband was amazing, waited in pre-op room until they wheeled me away, then was right there in recovery room once I was finished.
I considered not telling my mom about the SX but was so glad that I did it about 2 days pre-op. She had a BA about 13 yrs ago, so I knew she'd be supportive, but it was still a little embarrassing for me. This is a very private thing and it made me uncomfortable to share with her. Very glad that I did, and she was glad too. She's helped us out as lot actually because she's been able to watch our dog(and that was a big concern since she loves to jump up on me and sleep in bed with us!).
Post-op: Sticking to the meds has helped a lot, but you've got to stay organized since there are so many! I made a calendar entry in my phone for each dose to take and at what time. ( I'm totally OCD and I HAVE to be organized) this really is necessary though since the meds make you very loopy and drowsy. No need to risk missing a dose or overdosing.
Time will tell how they heal, but 48 hrs post-op, I've had little bruising, no seepage, and minimal pain. Can't wait for the post-op appt on 10.14. I'd love to hear what my dr has to say about my progress!

Post-op Appt Succeess!
EAB724October 15, 2014
Post-op went great today! (SX on 10.10. & post-op 10.14) The Dr showed my the proper massages/ exercises to do in order to soften and shape the breasts. I already feel like they look as if they're 1 month post-op though! I think it has a lot to do with the fact that the size wasn't a huge change from my original. She said that they'll soften up and the sternum will become less swollen-although it really isn't very swollen now either-just feels a little itchy at times.
Still taking recommended meds, but weening myself off of hydrocodone and only taking it every 8 hrs instead of every 4. Starting to feel light muscle spasms, so sticking with the Valium schedule for sure. I think the spasms might be coming now due to the local anesthesia wearing off. ( Dr. Stiles uses an interior local anesthetic inside the breast during SX to help with first 48-72 hrs of pain) must be wearing off now.

Congratulations! How are you feeling today? Wondering if your pre op silicone bra inserts were helpful? ;)

Hi, feeling great! 7 days post-op, just finished antibiotics, off of pain meds, and didn't even need Tylenol today! Still taking it slow since my energy level isn't quite back yet. And YES- the adhesive silicone inserts were so great to get me acclamated to my new size. I bought a 34c bra (no padding) then used 2 inserts to fill them up. It not only helped me get used to the size, but since I was trying to keep my BA a secret from everyone else, it also sort of eased them into the change as well. I'd recommend using the inserts to anyone else considering a BA!

That's great you're feeling well enough to not even take Tylenol. You're truly over the hump, but still need to rest when you can. I love your checklist in your recent update. You're right about the pain meds making you loopy so this is a helpful way to stay on top of everything. Glad the silicone bra inserts worked! ;)

I'm 9 days post, feeling great! Thought it was time to share some helpful tips and supplies that have made my recovery easier. Full disclosure- I'm completely type A, OCD, etc, so I'm the over-prepared type, but can honestly say that I wasn't missing a thing. Hope you ladies find some of these things helpful!

I really thought the medication reminder in your phone was smart! I messed up my meds often because I was loopy.
