30 Year Old Implants Removed - Dallas, TX

ORIGINAL POST

I had been wanting to get the explant done for...

WORTH IT
I had been wanting to get the explant done for some time, but could not find a doctor in my area that I felt good about. Then I saw an interview with Dr Melmed in Texas and knew that he was the one! My silicone Implants were leaking and a lot of the yellow gunk had leached out. I'm so grateful they are out and Dr Melmed also did a lift. My breast look, I think pretty awesome, especially for my age. I had so many symptoms at the time of my surg. My body was just racked with pain, I got where I couldn't hardly walk and it was extremely painful to rise from a sitting position. Heart Arrhythmia's, tingling in extremities, muscle tightness, joint pain, swollen knuckles, muscle weakness, muscle twitches, depression, sadness and fatigue. All symptoms Dr Melmed said was caused by the implants. My family doctor thought I had Fibromyalgia. I am now 7 months post op, I'm still experiencing some of the symptoms.... mostly body pain and fatigue. Has anyone found something that helps with these symptoms. Maybe it's just going to take a while longer. I love to dance and exercise and I so long for the day that I can do both! lanie

Thank you for sharing your experience on RealSelf! So sorry your implants were leaking and that you're still feeling tired and in pain. I hope some been-there-done-that ladies will comment here and give you some encouragement and feedback about when you can expect to get some energy back. Hang in there!

Have you posted pictures? I'm considering using Dr. Melmed in March to do my explant and lift. Tired of feeling tired (and dizzy among many other crazy symptoms that no doctor can explain or treat!!) Hoping to feel better after surgery. I hope you feel better soon too!
Hi! I just wanted to let you know that after much exhaustive research on here and elsewhere, I made the choice of Dr. Landen Perry who works in both Plano and Presby Dallas. I am having an explant and mastopexy on Friday, 2.20. He and his office seem excellent. I will happily give you the low down (or up down?) afterwards if I know how to reach you.
I just had my explant yesterday 2/17/15 with Dr. Melmed. I had 600 Vic's overfilled to 650 (dr. M said it was more like 680!!) I feel lighter!! He's very nice and funny- as well as the staff. They calmed my nerves and everything went well. Good luck to you with yours!
I'm so glad you had a good experience.....I too, felt very much at ease with Dr Melmed! How are you feeling?
How are you feeling? I'm due to get mine removed and am looking at removal of capsule too.
When I think back how sick I really was......I'm doing much better! But I'm not totally well yet! I have been talking to my husband about juicing and I really believe this might be the missing piece of the puzzle! When is your surgery?
I don't have one set yet I really am having a hard time trusting a doctor.
I thought I should read your story too, thank you for sharing your story, yep, you have pretty much all of the same symptoms I had and still have some lingering on. Keep your head up because they say it takes about 2 years to start to feel normal again. I have started my hiking again. I still don't feel right in my head but I hike dizzy or not. My two kids who are 33 and 34 hike with me and keep me safe. I know that one day you will be dancing and exercising again. Eat right and juice, you will start to feel better ;-)
I just ordered the book " The naked truth about breast implants " ..... I'm hoping it will have some juicing ideas. Is there a specific fruit or veg or combo when you're juicing to detox silicone? Thank you for saying it could take 2 yrs....I can see light at the end of the tunnel! It's exciting that you are hiking again!

I just stumbled across www.*******.com, very interesting and they say they have a 3 week detox program specifically for silicone. I am going to look into it. I juice with frozen fruit, almond milk and greens, nothing specific for silicone. I think I like this guy better than Dr. Kolb. He seems to do his research and listens to his patients. There is one on woman on Real Self that Dr. Kolb messed up on and did not bother to fix it. Dr. Kolb is still okay with saline implants but the outer shell is made up of silicone. This guy knows that silicone implants and saline implants are both not safe. I hope you look his website up. I read the information he posted (his research) and I just wanted to cry all over again..it is so hard to understand why my PS did not give me my insert and told me saline implants were safe...oh well, mit is what it is, right? We will get better and be stronger because we have gone and are going through so much. We women can be pretty tough ;-) Honestly, I think after this information I read just brought all those emotions back up when I first stumbled onto all of the women who were ill because of implants.., I am okay now :-)

Ok so where do I find this 3 week detox program? We are very strong women and there's strength in numbers. This web site lets us know that we are NOT alone in this fight back to good health! Hang in there Gooberbri......We will get well! Laneie
Looks like this site will not let us post websites......so for the 3 week detox just give me the name.... leaving off the www. or the .com LOL Thanks
What kind of lift did you get May I ask? X
