I am a 65 yo female with size 36 F/G boobs. At least that is the size I wear in Soma and Wolcott bras....Well, the left is a g and the right is a small f... Before menopause I was a C/D...loved most aspects of menopause... hate the boob growth part. I started looking into breast reduction over a year ago. I was told I needed to lose weight, have a chiro work on my back pain and document, document, document. I lost 30 lbs...now 5ft 5 and 150 lbs. I walk 7-10 miles a DAY! swim 5 days a week. Back pain is horrendous. So back to the PS in April, now my blood pressure is out of control. After stress tests, echo, monitors, etc... I am cleared for surgery... Blood pressure then took 3 months to get level... but it is there now... and surgery is set!

Day of ...

Last night the surgeon did his artwork on my boobs... So, this morning showed up at 6 am ready to roll... Paperwork, introductions and.... Good night.... 4 hours later in recovery... No pain but a little nauseous... One hour later they said time to go. Thank goodness my family is slow because I was there another hour and more awake when I left. Thanks for the pillow suggestion, this site has been a big help! In the car I also had crackers and a throw up bag... Didn't need either. Home...ah... My own bed. My bed was setup with lots of pillows and a wedge for my back. It was recommended that I wear a diaper...yuck! For day one. I would say it isn't that uncomfortable and I could take my time to stand up slowly and walk to the bathroom! Didn't need it but took a lot of pressure off me. Throat hurts...not hungry... Slept off and all all day! See you tomorrow!

Day of...

Things I remember. Nurse asked me what size I wanted... Said go small... She said no problem... In recovery I had one pain pill... None since and no pain today... Only complaint I have is I have to pee a lot. They must have pumped a lot of fluids into me. Water didn't quench my thirst or sore throat... Think juice is needed....

1 day post

Woke up in same clothes I wore to surgery yesterday... Drains still draining, leg pressure machine still pumping, still peeing, still no taste, still in my bed. I remember when a friend said she showed her new smaller ones to everyone. I laughed and just thought that won't happen here! Well, I have shown them to anyone interested so far..... Omg...
Cleaned up, changed, napped and then off to doctor.... I came home with just gauze over incisions and an ace bandage wrapped around me... Ace fell off almost immediately... Doctor said looking good and hoped I didn't mind that he took me to a b cup.... Yippee... But honestly his nurse and I think it will be a large c in our world. Have to start washing the incision lines two times a day with soap and water.... Also scolded me for not walking more... Hello, surgery was yesterday! Nipples are erect and VERY sensitive. But no pain! Oh and no back pain at all! So happy! Upper shoulders and mid back very tight... Probably because I have never gone bra less and my body doesn't know how to act. Hope the tightness goes away... Says drains and no shower until Monday... Almost started to cry! Ok, he gave in and said call Friday.... Maybe! Oh please.... So far the drains are a easy and no problem.... But I want a shower....Nap when I got home, then a walk and cards..... PS my clothing choices to go to the doctor were.... Lol.... Guess I am still in the zone!

2 day post

Ok... Sleeping on my back last night didn't work, so moved to recliner... Did get some sleep...still no back pain...yay.... Nipples are soooo sensitive. Hit the table when reaching and oh so ouch... Not good. Really tired of my bed, my recliner and my bedroom! So made the big move to the living room couch.... Then decided I was dirty... So spent an hour cleaning up... Felt good. Then a nice nap! Drains almost done daring. There isn't much coming out. I can't wait to call tomorrow to see if they can come out. They are really starting to bug me!
Ate dinner at the dining room table... It actually tasted good... Salmon and salad. Walked around the block, played cards.. Starting to come alive. I am still dizzy when I stand up and have to wait to move. What is that all about? Think positive... Drains out tomorrow and then I can shower... Can't wait!

3 day post

woke up after moving from bed to recliner several times, with almost no fluids in drains. So hard to wait until 9 am to call Dr. Maybe oh maybe.... Still a little dizzy when I move quickly. nipples still super tender. 9am called the office and left a msg. Guess I was a few minutes early.. and a day early... lol... Call finally came and said ok... come on in... yippee.... Drains removed and it burned a little but nothing major. Then they did a major clean up of the incisions and breast. Said I wasn't aggressive enough in the cleaning... When I got home, all my helpers were leaving. Said good bye and now my shower.... first i think I will just sit for a minute... well...forget the shower...a really good and long sleep took over. There is always tomorrow...

Well I didn't get a shower yesterday so this morning I got up and showered. It felt soooo good. This afternoon I have a hair appointment. Breasts are hard but the shape is changing. My right breast that used to be my smaller on is looking larger than my left.... Hmmmm....but first after my shower, I take another nap... This afternoon, I got my hair shampooed and dried.... Felt wonderful. Visited with friends, walked and now ready to sleep. I get tired so easily. You feel great one minute then you crash! Still dizzy when I stand.

4 and 5 days post op

Ok, I forgot to post yesterday, so I will combine the two days. I am still dizzy when I stand up, so I move slowly at first. I tire easily, but hate sleeping on my back. I actually took a Valium last night and it did relax me enough to sleep. Took a while to wake this morning. I am wearing a cami per the Dr. However the discharge from the incisions is really playing havoc on my cloths since I am not bandaged. Have to work on that! Does anyone else at this stage feel like they have two mounds of clay sitting on their chest? Starting to get out a bit more. Had lunch with neighbors but brought most of it home for dinner. Appetite still not the best. The breast sure do look good tho..... Does the swelling really go down that much? Added some more before pics, just to make me feel good...

Day 7 post

Well, it has been a week and all is going smoothly. I am still struggling with sleeping. I still am dizzy when I stand up fast. I am walking more, and feeling more alive. Live my showers, back to the spray. I miss the pool and my friends. I showed up for my hair appointment... Dah, wrong day! Today I am driving! Yay. Last day for antibiotics.... I was told since I am taking such a high dosage that may be contributating to my dizziness. We shall see. Saw Dr. Said looking good and to stop flashing everyone! Haha... Hungry! This is good...

Day 8 post.....

No words just pics.....yay!

Week 2 post...

Two weeks.... Yay... I haven't posted recently as I have been busy.. Hair, nails, Doctor...etc... Guess I am starting to feel alive!
What has changed this week? My dizziness has gone away. After I stopped the antibiotics they seem to go away... Coincidence? Don't care, just glad they are gone. The breasts are starting to soften and change shape. I am starting to get a cleavage. The incisions are still leaking.... I am still cleaning them twice a day with soap and water. Still no bra, just camis...
Sleeping is still an issue, but I have removed some pillows and rearranged them. Two pillows under the head and three to my left... So I kind of roll left to sleep. Love my face buried in the pillows, so this works. Also, this allows my dog to approach from the right and curl up next to me in the morning. Speaking of my dog, anyone else ever heard of this? Every morning my dog jumps on the bed, comes up to me, sniffs both boobs, then wags her tail and curls up next to me....strange or very cute!
So week two means things just keep getting better. I did try to go shopping, but came home exhausted and took a nap. So I will keep on walking and counting the days til I can get back in the pool..... Hopefully September....

Week 3 post

Greetings.... I am feeling stronger and stronger. I am sore under the arms. Guess I have been using my arms too much. I am still leaking but in less spots. The t areas are still wide open. But no infections and still cleaning twice a day. Dr. Also said I could use neosporium twice a day to help. I am sleeping on my side atop lots of pillows. So, I don't know if it really counts as side sleeping. I did find setting up classrooms at school doeable.... Seated most of the time... Line dancing still had to rest several times... Ushering almost knocked me out... 2 hours on my feet too much too soon... But overall a good week... I am still waiting to find out if medicare is going to cover this... Trying not to think of it too much... Haha...
