Tattoo Removal Leg with Picoway - Not Too Happy After 5 Sessions..
timosteinNovember 19, 2018
Hi, as many others I immediately hated my pineapple tattoo. I decided to keep the leaves but I did not like the grenade-like "body" of the pineapple. So far I had 5 Picoway sessions - got the tattoo late October 2017, then had the 1st session Januar 31, 2018, the 2nd March 17, the 3rd May 9 (no photos unfortunately), the 4th August 22, and the 5th October 11.
I never had any issues with blisters or anything, just some redness. The shading has been fading quite well, and some of the thinner lines are grayish and fading, or breaking, but not much progress on the thicker lines.
Given this very slow progress I am now changing to another studio, one that's using the PiQo4 rather than the Picoway, plus some "focus dots" treatment.
I want the pineapple body to fade such that it's cover-up ready... fingers crossed. From the pics the difference between the untreated leaves and the "body" can give you a good feel for the progress.
My questions:
- Is this slow fading normal or do you think my studio has been doing a poor job?
- Is it OK to change from Picoway to PiQo4 halway through?

UPDATED FROM timostein
6th session total, 1st session PiQo4

Changed the laser clinic and the laser - first time ever that I saw some serious blistering afterwards, and some more significant fading than in previous sessions. This laser clinic also uses a cooling device, so the pain is more bearable. Overall a much better experience than at lasera with Picoway before.

UPDATED FROM timostein
7th session total, 2nd session PiQo4

After I had the 6th session end of November, I had the 2nd PiQo4 session beginning of February (7th session in total). The blistering was a bit less this time, and the fading less as well. Talked to a tattoo artist who said he could cover it up now, but I am planning to do another PiQo4 session before consulting the tattoo artist.... Any idea for how long I should wait for after the last laser session before getting a cover up?

dude the difference between the two lasers is outstanding. unfortunately i cannot answer your question lol. from many examples i've seen though, it seems like it COULD only take 1-2 sessions depending on how strong and dense your coverup will be.
btw can you tell me what was the model of the first laser, what is the clinic you use for the second one and it's price/session?? i am on my 5th session as well with a picosure laser and we have the same (bad) progress

Hey man, Sorry I did not provide all info, so here it comes...
- Not sure if the difference is a difference in lasers, as the fading might be non-linear, and might be hard to make progress with a fresh tattoo as in the beginning. So can't causally link it to the laser difference (no experimental data ;)) but yes, I tend to agree with you! :)
- First laser studio was lasera.nl with picoway and EUR 190/session
- Second laser stuido is cosmetique-totale.nl (in Amsterdam) with roughly EUR 170/session (I have a combination offer with another pretty big tattoo for EUR 250/session incl. the pineapple, will post the other tattoo in some other post perhaps; but they said if I had the pineapple treated separately it would be sth. like 170, i.e. the price per cm2 decreases a lot with higher numbers)
- Where are you going? Amsterdam as well?

aah i remember i stumbled upon the first studio when i was pondering changing the current laser. I remember i thought it was weird that all of their staff were attractive women! I am now living in utrecht, but started the laser treatments in athens, so i was looking for other options in amsterdam. The caveat is that i have paid a big amount of money for unlimited sessions to the clinic in athens hence if i stop going i will have to practically throw it in the trashlol.
Oh your prices are the same with my current clinic (also picosure). Dude idk it's weird. I've read that sometimes it's good to mix up the laser, i've read that it's better to start with Q and then continue with pico, i've read that an interval of 2-3 months is better than 1.5-2 (that's what i do)...fading seems indeed that it's not linear as you said. There are numerous examples around here that prove that. Who knows! You're doing great though, i'm happy for you!
