I never liked my cankles. I have been toa plastic surgeon and they said there was nothing they could do. Dr. Su in Tampa shared videos of the procedure and my ankles were similar in size to what he showed on video. I sent some pictures Dr. Su sent back my pictures showing what could be done. I booked the procedure for 2 weeks out from when I saw the pictures.

Did your overall cost include the flight, hotel, etc. or just the procedure? I am in VA and am trying to figure out how people travel to another location for the procedure.

That was only the procedure. Flight, hotel, transportation and food was another 800.

wow you and I are a similar size. I'm thinking about surgery on my knees, legs and cankles in November. Would you recommend?

Day of Surgery

Kim.katery
We flew down to Florida the day before surgery. We went to the beach and had a nice dinner which was a welcomed distraction because I was nervous. I had fainted the week before getting my blood drawn, so I was mostly nervous about fainting. Anyway, I did not sleep that night. My surgery was at 7 so we ate a big breakfast at 6 and then went to the office. I really liked all the crystals in the waiting room, very good energy. Soon I was brought back to the room by my nurse, Rachelle. I changed and we signed some paperwork and she explained the process to me. Before long, Dr. Su joined us and my husband did as well. Dr. Su also walked me through the process and answered questions. We went in front of the mirror and he explained what he was going to do. I started to feel faint when he was talking so I had to lay down. I felt nauseous just hearing what was going to happen. Soon I felt well enough to stand and Dr. Su made his markings. I took a pain med and an anti nausea med when I first came in with Rachelle so by the time we started the procedure, those meds had kicked in. I was afraid because of what I had heard about the numbing process, but in my opinion it was hardly anything. It was a little sting and then nothing because it’s numbing medication! You only feel a sting for a second before you are numb so to me, it wasn’t anything really. The actual injection of fluid after the numbing felt a little weird but again, it just wasn’t that big of a deal to me. Everyone is different. Once you are numb and full of fluid, Dr. Su lets you sit and then comes back in once the numbing meds have set in. The actual lipo for me, was the worst part. In some spots, I could not feel anything and in others, I felt intense burning. Dr. Su numbed some spots again, but the burning I felt was in a large area so he could not numb the entire space again. The burning was very uncomfortable for me and I hadn’t seen it in any reviews- like I said everyone is different! This is just my experience. When we were done, I saw the first leg and I cried I was so happy!!! Definitely worth the burning sensation that stopped as soon as Dr. Su was done with that particular spot. After the procedure, I went with my nurse into a room and we cleaned up the legs and put on the compression garment. I was on pain meds, so I was pretty comfortable and I don’t remember a whole bunch about what happened. It is a little fuzzy but I got through it and slept literally the rest of the day. Well, I woke up to eat dinner and take meds but other than that- I was completely out. Dr. Su said I would feel a painful throbbing overnight once the lidocaine wore off-but I never felt that. I felt a slight tingle at one point but I didn’t have much pain at all. Very good experience!

5 days post I am swollen. And bruised. I have been up and moving around since the surgery and it gets easier every day. Yesterday, I went for a walk outside and it went well. Not a lot of pain. I took 1 pain med yesterday and my intention is to not take any today. I have been eating healthy- whole grains, protein, veggies and fruit. A little dark chocolate at the end of the day! I have taken two weeks off of work but I think I may go back before then. The only part of my leg that is uncomfortably swollen is my ankles. Well and right above my ankles. I am still numb but every day it gets easier to shower and put on the compression garments. I’m not sure if I’m going to swell a ton more or if this is it? My incisions are healing well with the dragons blood and the ones that were left open are healing as well. I did not take a pain med when I went to sleep last night, and I slept ok. I read a post that on night 5 she woke up in agony so I was a little afraid, but I did not experience this. I was a little swollen and it was uncomfortable but I was not in pain. Overall, I wish time would hurry up so this swelling would go down and bruising will heal!
