My friend & I met with a consultant in The Villages, Fla. where the procedure was explained & I was given the backgrounds of the doctors available. I met with the Dr. the day before my procedure. He was very comforting & I felt good about him doing the procedure. I took 1 mg. of Ativan an hour before going to their facility at 8am. When I got there (we stayed at a hotel right next door), I took another Ativan & also a Valium. I had decided to have my neck & lower face done. The Dr. suggested I also have laser derbabrasion which I agreed to after looking at my "before" photos. I knew he would cut under my chin, but didn't feel any pain. He told me he was doing a little liposuction in my chin area & altho I could hear the sucking sound, there was no pain. The Dr. talked to me during the entire procedure -- I assume to take my mind off the procedure. I didn't feel any pain when they made incisions behind & in front of my ears. When he started to do the dermabrasion, I smelled a slight burning smell, but it went away. Although I was given a prescription for Hydrocodon, I didn't need to take as many as I was told to. I went back the morning after my procedure for my dressing to be changed. I will go back on Nov. 5 to make sure all the sutures have dissolved & have after photos taken. The difference in my neck is amazing. I am very happy with the results. My face is still partially red & swollen, but I can see it is healing normally & will probably be back to normal in a few more days. I am 64 yo The area around my ears & some of my neck is still numb, but I am sure it will fade in a short amount of time. The only annoying factor is that as my face peel heals, my skin itches so I have to slather it with Vasoline, which can be a bit messy. One of the staff suggested taking Benadryl for the itching. At this point, I have no regrets. I had been thinking of getting this done for the past 3 yrs. & I am glad I finally went through with it.

Day 12 after procedure

My face still feels very dry. I think it still looks swollen so maybe I need to still use ice on it. The pinkness is kind of in splotches now. It seems to be more noticeable when I put the moisturizer on it. A day or so ago, I noticed a slight lump on the left side of my neck. It feels like it's a muscle in my neck. I will call the LSL doc office Mon. because I am out of town right now. It feels kind of "rope-like" but isn't painful. Still have slight pain around my ears. Can't wait to use my regular shampoo instead of Baby Shampoo -- my hair is so dry & hard to manage right now. Also want to color my hair but have to wait 30 days from day of procedure. More to come......
