I have been uncomfortable with the size of my left labium for as long as I can remember. I am unable to wear tight clothing without it pinching and I can't have intercourse without tucking it off to the side. Aside from discomfort, it just doesn't look right to me. The left side is at least twice the size of the left and has a completely different shape/darker pigmentation. I discovered realself about a year ago and was amazed at the prevalence of the labiaplasty procedure and the incredible results. I booked 2 consultations about a month ago just so I could have a second opinion, but after meeting Dr. Temmen I had already made up my mind. I haven't even had my procedure yet and I can't say enough good things about her. I had my pre-op appointment today and she gave it a second look just to make sure we were on the same page, and she suggested clitoral hooding on one side to make the final result more symmetrical. No pressure, though! She gave me the rest of the week to think about it and said to give my final answer on Friday. I will update this accordingly.

End of second day post-op

I had the surgery two days ago on Friday and so far I couldn't be happier. On Friday I arrived at the office at 10:30, went in for surgery at 11:30, and was finished at 12:30. In my opinion, the worst part was the injection that numbed the area because it was a steady burn but it was over quickly. I talked to Dr. Temmen and the nurse through the whole procedure which made it a really pleasant experience for me. Pain so far has been moderate, and today I started substituting Tylenol for Percocet. Bleeding stopped for me the day of surgery and I haven't had any stinging during urination but I do have mild swelling. Because of the foam pads that I have to stuff inside of the compression garment, I feel like I'm walking like a penguin but otherwise life is pretty normal. J can't wait to see the final result!

Very TMI Update

I had my first post-op appointment 2 days ago on Monday and Dr. Temmen told me everything was looking good so far. I asked her about proper hygiene procedures and if it was normal to be constipated/itchy after surgery. She said yes to both, that the constipation was likely due to the Percocet I took the day of surgery, and I should eat fibrous foods and take a stool softener (not laxative) to relieve myself. Yesterday I was miserably itchy and today I finally had my first "real" BM post surgery. I'm pretty sure it was the worst experience of my life and I almost can't believe that it happened (lol). It literally got stuck on the way out and I sat there for about an hour trying to figure out what to do. I finally realized that it wasn't coming out on its own, so I put on a pair of rubber gloves and had to pull it out. Definitely the most intimate experience I've ever had with myself and probably otherwise, and I desperately hope that it never happens to me again. On the plus side, I don't even notice the itching anymore because all I can focus on now is my butt. :o) Now that it's over I'm actually pretty amused and still really happy with my results so far.

Feel bad for you. I had the same experience after a hemorrhoidectomy. Believe me, I know your pain! I hope you're ok now.
