Surgery tomorrow. I'm excited yet nervous. I have always had big breast.. I remember my mom buying a bra and weeks later it being too little. I'm ready to carry a lighter load.
I've been researching a lot and was wondering how long do you stay in a compression bra? Should I purchase one?
One of my fears are complications. I know I will have scars but I don't want complications to make them worst. Oh and pain right after surgery... Is it bad?

I had mine a week ago and there was some discomfort, some random shooting pains off and on and highly sensitive nipples. I am at the beginning of healing still so so I don't like how my incisions look and I am sore most of the time, unless I'm lying down but it's a low grade soreness. I have more mobility than so expected. The biggest irritation post-op was my throat from the breathing tube! I am satisfied with the size though. Good luck! :)

Thanks for responding. I hope things get better for you. I believe I rather have sensitivity of my nipples. I don't want to loose feeling in mine. Thanks for letting me know some type of expectations.

I believe you need a don't support bra not a compression bra. The compression bras are for implants. I was advised to wear sports bras which I am doing so. Now two weeks post op. I wear it day no night and only remove to shower. I'm wearing mine for at least three months. This is my second BR and I didon't wear one long enough last time and I suffered extensive stretching of the scar tissue. This time I'm firmly held in until summer! scarring is part of it but don't worry because the body is designed to heal. I use a surgical wash when I shower that removes any bacteria that might cause problems. I pad the wounds out now my dressings are off. So they don't rub against the fabric of my bra. Pain isn't fun. I am jacked up on pain relief and it still hurts but it's healing pain. Don't worry. Eat right. Feed your body with goodness to help it heal.

Thanks for responding. I plan to wear mine day in and out. I don't want any sagging! Do u use the paper tape on incisions? I purchased nursing pads to line my bra with.

I use just dressing the nurse gave me. A patch over each nipple and I run it along the bottom of the bra padding between the ancor scar. A nursing bra is a good idea as are those cups you can get to protect when breast feeding too. I was told when all the stabbing is gone to massage the scars with Bio oil twice a day to break up and scar residue and soften the feeling. I'm two weeks post surgery tomorrow and I wore dressing for eight days. No showers. Then I had dressings and stitches out on day eight. Had a shower and padded from that point. Try to find a bra that's free from seams and webbing. The softer the fabric the better during healing. Front fastening is easier, certainly if you have a bad back or shoulder pain.
