Hello there,

I am a 40-year-old woman who is a mother to one biological child. I did not breastfeed due to post-partum depression and having to go on an anti-depressant straightaway after birth.

I am currently 163 lbs, 5’8” in height.

I will be receiving Natrelle Silicone 410 Tear-drop style implants. Estimated size of enhancement, according to surgeon, will amount to probably a DD cup.

When I purchase bras for myself I purchase a 36 or 38 B (depending on fit). My surgeon measured me thoroughly and estimates that I am currently a C cup. As someone who worked in fashion for long enough, I do understand that the sizing mass-marketed to woman in the form of products such as bras is not necessarily correct in actual sizing & one must go to a specialty lingerie boutique for accuracy. Before I had my child I was a size 4/6, now at best I am an 8, but usually a 10 and I am ok with that because I want to age gracefully, yet beautifully; yet my breasts are suited for a 4/6 and not an 8/10! I do go to the gym, but I am not maniacal about it and I appreciate my curves.

I do not have “wish boob” pictures, I just want to look the best that I can look, while appearing to be as natural as possible for my body type. I understand that I (& all women) are not paper dolls and if we were to be folded in half none of our physical features would be perfectly symmetrical.

I have been wanted to get a BA for quite sometime; I had my child when I was 35. I wanted to wait until my body filled out to a normal weight and my natural breasts dropped naturally. This has happened and now it is time for BA, which will be done in about 25 days.

My biggest concern going into this is losing sensation in my nipples, which I would find devastating. I am also concerned about caring for my daughter and my pets post procedure as my estranged husband is not the most reliable and he is whom I am relying on for help around the house.

I sincerely appreciate the fact that so many women have shared their personal journeys through BA procedures via RS and I take comfort in the fact that I am not alone. I am happy to return the favor, so please stay tuned for my journey over the next several months.

Cheers!

I enjoyed reading your story and am excited for you to get a full natural look that suits your body frame. It's great to hear that you're not seeking a specific pair of breasts in a picture. This can be difficult to sometimes get. ;) Glad you have some help...even if he's not the most reliable, it's comforting to know someone is there. Feel free to join the February 2017 breast augmentation surgery forum. (If the link does not work, just type the forum title into the RealSelf search bar.) Looking forward to your updates!

Thank you for the support Beth! I am excited to share my journey with other RS users as this site has been so helpful to me since I discovered it just a few weeks ago. I somehow feel less "alone" embarking on my personal journey which is just a few short weeks away; RS has provided me with a sense of camaraderie. I welcome feedback and moral support from all!

I had my BA December 22, 2016....3 weeks ago. I had the Natrelle 410 FX 560cc submuscular. I was barely an A cup and now I'm guessing I'm around a D. I haven't formally been fitted yet. I'm still just wearing sports bras. I absolutely love mine! They are perfect. They are still a bit high, but they do look more normal as the days progress. My incision scars are not that bad to look at but they feel really lumpy. They've assured me that this will improve over the next year. My first week I felt like this was a bad decision. Not for how they looked but how I felt. The pain and discomfort were unreal. I am so much better now and I have no regrets what so ever. I feel better about my body, I feel motivated to take better care of myself, and my husband loves them as well. He was afraid of a giant fake look. They are far from that. I never took any wish pics in to my doctor either. He was super confident and competent so I really didn't feel the need to express in that manner what I wanted to look like. I wish you well and hope you have the desired results that you're looking for.

Thank you so much for your comment. Perhaps we can lend each other some moral support! I am so glad you are feeling pleased with your results, that makes me feel so much better about my decision.

I got the anatomical implants a year and a half ago and love them! The first couple of weeks will be tough between the morning boob swelling to not being able to open a water bottle without help. Not to mention when you bend over you feel like they will fall off your chest. But before you know it they start to just feel like you always had them. I started out as a 34 c and now fit a DD and some DVD depending on the brand but do not feel like I look that big. Best wishes on your up coming surgery.

Haha, auto correct meant to say DD OR DDD.

Thank you so much for your comment; I honestly feel so grateful that people are taking to time to read my first post with empathy while sharing their own journeys. You seem to have had fantastic results so kudos to you! I remember after giving birth how engorged my breasts were with milk (and it hurt) so I am definitely not looking forward to that again, but it is fantastic to know that it is a short-lived sensation and the results are well worth. And again, I do need moral support going through this journey, as I have not told more than 3 people that I am embarking on this, so I sincerely appreciate your reaching out to me!

& No worries! In the age of ‘texting replacing telephone conversation’ it is funny how our eyes read right over the typos and our brains read it correctly. Thanks again ;)

Oh my goodness, of course, I will pay it forward & then some: through honesty, candor, & translucence throughout my journey; (& when the pain sets in, perhaps a few doses of self-deprecation and sarcasm will be featured). I honestly cherish the empathy and guidance and certainly hope to receive more of it as time presses on & my journey continues. Also, thanks for this list. My pre-op appointment is a week from today on Thursday 1/19, but it is nice to get a heads up and to be in the know early for sure!

More before pics & food for thought regarding nipple size post BA

User Avatar
shke
Hello there again,

I just wanted to add some extra before pics where my nipples are not so erect. It has been very cold this week in Florida (I even had to turn my heat on which I have not done for nearly a year), so I believe my nipples were much smaller in appearance in my first post than they are normally when the temp is normal for the state I live in. To get a complete accurate documentation, I want to supply as many images that are relevant of my before form as I can, & I most certainly will do the same post.

Also, as my breasts were proportionately appropriate on my size 4/6 body frame (and they were beautiful then, as they are now, but they need a boost to help with my ageing gracefully process) yet are not so relevant now on my size 8/10 frame. I know I will never be a size 4 again, but I also know that I will never go above a size 10 either. Size 6/8 would be ideal & I am working on it for sure! Also, my upcoming BA will certainly help promote my body confidence as well my dedication to being at the gym (which I detest btw) & overall self-improvement.

Food for thought/Q for feedback: Should I be worried about my nipples expanding too much with gummy bear implants?

Thanks again for taking the time to read my pre-op posts & please stay tuned! My actual pre-op appointment with surgeon is a week from now on Thurs 1/19.

And yes, thank you for the "great boobs" compliment; I just need a "perk up". I don't want to change the shape of my breasts, as many women seem to want to do, I only wish to enhance what I already have.
January 15, 2017
I think your breast are beautiful and sexy as is but you have to be comfortable with them. I hope you make a video showing what the new ones will move like and bounce like as well. That's the most important to me and not many do that. Good luck.

Firstly, thank you. I am committed to being on this site for the next year or so while documenting my process: the good, the bad, the painful. I will be honest every step of the way, and trust me, there will be plenty more videos to come post BA procedure!

I think your areaolas are going to look great after you get implants. Larger breasts look
Strange in my opinion after mastopexy reduces them. I have larger breasts which are similar and love my larger areaolas and actually want some natural "sag" lol

I hope that your replacement BA procedure went well and you are happy with your results thus far. Thank you for writing that to me and I am pleased to report that I did not lose any sensitivity! (I actually have gained some!)

Hi no my surgeon did not listen to what I wanted and I am very disappointed with the result I did not want an uplift I wanted the natural shape of my breast with upper pole which I did not get

Oh my, I am sorry to hear that. Hopefully something can be done; plastic surgery is quite a gamble.
March 13, 2017
It shouldn't be I was well prepared with wish photos similar to my breast shape what they had done he refused to look at the photos refused me to try implants on in my bra to see what size I preferred he marked me up with 3 dots to one of my breasts alarm bells should of rang really and I should of cancelled surgery

I totally agree with you that it should NOT be a gamble, plastic surgery should be a transparent process between surgeon and patient. I know of a lot of negative experiences/outcomes since I began my research several months ago which is unfortunate. It seems some plastic surgeons just do whatever they are gonna do regardless of their patient's input; for instance, if a gallbladder wasn't removed properly the surgeon would be required to go back in to fix immediately. My heart goes out to you. Hang in there and you can always PM me if you need to vent. Again, I am sorry about this and the fact that you are not happy.
March 13, 2017
Or thankyou the surgeon was very rude actually I am 58 and he told me I will never have boobs like one photo he looked at it was to show him the upper pole volume I wanted he then said you don't want boobs like that at your age my husband was fuming we really don't look our ages at all he really upset me and thanks for talking to me about it

Of course, no worries I am happy to chat about it with you. I must say that it is horrible that a professional who is in the business of keeping people "youthful" would even bring up your age as a negative obstacle. My aunt had breast implants when she was 65; she is now 74 and I swear to you that her boobs look half her age. All I can say is you have a voice and an experience and you should use it to caution other women. I am not saying you should spread vitriol, but telling the truth can perhaps prevent another mishap. Be well Lady, I am glad to know you have a support system (your husband) in place though.

I went through beautiful beings which I have used for a couple of other procedures whom I trusted 100% they changed clinics and not for the best I could assure anyone I have had no problems in the past other than this surgeon who was not professional and did not take my needs views or wishes into account.
