This was my second transplant, my first transplant...
This was my second transplant, my first transplant was FUT method and they were able to harvest 2400 grafts. I was fairly satisfied by that procedure.
4 years later I wanted to thicken up the initial transplanted location by adding 1000 grafts to it using FUE procedure. I went to the Bassin Center(tampahairmd) in Tampa and consulted with their staff. My main concern was that I do not want to lose my existing transplanted hair due to shock loss, and I made that very clear to them. They constantly reassured me that they use very thin needles and there is no chance of shock loss.
Convinced, I went into the procedue and they shaved my head and I was surprised to find out that the Doctor wont be doing the surgery, but his technicians( a middle aged lady with South American accent and a very young intern looking guy) will be performing the surgery. The doc inject me with anesthesia and leaves the room and the lady start harvesting the hair on the back of my head using Neograft machine. about an hour later she finishes harvesting all the required grafts and we move on to the second phase. The doctor comes back to check in on me and inject me with anesthesia and he punches a thousand holes on the transplant location and leaves the room again. The lady and the yound guy come back and start putting the grafts into the holes(one side each) and after 400 holes or so the lady says that she cannot see the holes the doctor made and she starts poking new holes to put the grafts in.. (It was a bloody mess!) I was bleeding like crazy and couple hours later the nightmare was over. After the procedure I was filled with hope of new hair and was give a steroid shot and went home. Here comes the crazy part.. I start shedding like crazy and withing 3 weeks most of the existing hair at the transplanted area is gone. My face remained swollen for about 5 days and since it was my second procedure I was able to pull through.
Its been six months now and my previous hair lost due to shock loss did not come back and I am left with 3 pencil sized bald spots in the front of my head and the transplanted hair grafts didnt come out that impressive. I went to visit the doctor and he hardly spoke to me for a minute and left the room again and the lady who operated on me looked at the shock loss and advised me that it is never a good idea to transplant in between existing hair because there wont be enough space to insert the hair... THAT WAS MY FIRST QUESTION TO THESE GUYS!!!
To summarize this experience I paid 5000$ for a hair removal procedure on my scalp! Go to this clinic if you want better hair removal results than Laser hair removal! Please! Please do not go to this clinic if you are expecting good results..
