Post 2.5 months update

I have never been more comfortable with showing off my profile! Now that it is almost 3 months Post op, my swelling has subsided almost 100% I would say. (My surgeon is overseas so my last check up was 3 weeks post op). I can definitely tell, especially in pictures, that my chin is a lot more natural now. Before I left Taiwan, my doctor instructed me to massage my chin to loosen the muscles in the area. I slacked a bit on that mainly because I was still scared to touch the area, but to this day, my chin is still tight. The muscles are extremely tight when I wake up in the morning, and I have to stretch it out a bit by opening my mouth. I've started to massage it now (2 months late oops) so hopefully I will see improvements in that. It's not something that bothers me that much; throughout the day i don't notice any tightness, just mainly when I wake up.
The bone itself feels like it's pretty stable and in place now. It still feels weird when I touch my chin cause of how prominent it is compared to before. I'm still very gentle around this area, making sure I don't sleep on it or rest my chin on my hands, but I'm sure I'm being unnecessarily cautious.
Appearance wise, my face looks longer and slimmer! I've actually only had a few people notice something different. They can never pinpoint what it is, but they'll say "you look different". Then continue to guess if I changed my hair, lost weight, or did my makeup differently. Surprisingly, some of my best friends couldn't even tell!
I will keep updating this if anything changes in the future. I've been so into my new chin ever since I got it done!

Day 16 post op

I'm feeling great! I went back for a checkup 2 days ago and my surgeon said that my incision is completely healed. I can pretty much resume all activities including work, exercising, drinking, etc. He taught me a few facial exercises to help stretch out my muscles, and said to practice these exercises as often as I can. It pretty much involves me opening my mouth as wide as I can saying "ah" and "ee".

My chin is still quite numb, only slightly better from a week ago. It still has that annoying, throbbing pain but I'm either getting use to it or it's not as bad anymore. After a day of the stretching exercises I can now smile the way I use to, with teeth and all; I feel like myself again!

I think I was extremely lucky and my recovery was really fast. I am super comfortable going out now, and besides the slight swelling, and tingling sensation, everything is perfect! Super happy and excited to show off my new chin.

Day 11

Today is 11 days post op. My incision is pretty much healed by now, which allows me to eat anything I want. I do chew a little slower than normal though, so it takes me a little while longer to eat. The stitches inside my mouth have not fallen off yet (they will come out on its own?) but the doctor said that could take up to 3 weeks.

Throughout my first week, I was waking up seeing pretty dramatic changes everyday. By day 3, my swelling was going down quite fast, and by the 1 week mark, my surgeon saw me and thought I had the procedure done 2 weeks ago. However, now onto the 2nd week, and i'm waking up seeing very little changes. I know it's still very early, but the swelling i have left is definitely taking a lot longer to go down than it did my first week. I'm onto heat compressing now, versus cold compresses during my first post op week.

Pain wise, my chin was pretty numb the entire first week. Over the last few days, I started to regain a bit of feeling; which leads to an uncomfortable throbbing sensation, almost painful but not quite, that occurs here and there. I have a lot of tingling, but that doesn't bother me nearly as much as the throbbing pressure i keep feeling. When I smile (still restricted), my jaw and chin still look big in certain angles, but again its still swollen. Also worried about my double chin that the surgeon said is "swollen" and will go away. I guess we will see!
