Well, like all of all of I have alway been less than satisfied with my smile and decided to do something about it. So I decided that this would be the year that I take my dental health to the next level. I started with all the neglected (normal dental phobia) check up, cleaning, fillings, and and old tooth repair of a bad root canal followed up by a crown. Once I committed to the very expensive 2500$ crown process I was already determined to go all the way with braces.
I had already had my mind set on the traditional metal braces when I had gone in for my consultation, but when the ortho said the treatment time would be half with Invisalign I was sold. After the consultation was over I had my next appointment to get my impressions made. The next appointment was a month later which gave me time prepare for the $1000 down payment .
Finally I had my impressions made and photos taken. And now I waited.
I had a month to stalk all the reviews on this website while I waiting for my retainers to come in. Lol.
Yay the day finally came to get my first set of trays.
My first appointment was kind of a scury. They lady dropped my tray on the ground. What the heck. They never showed me my clincheck, or told me what to expect. It's ok though I had no expectations of what to expect yet, so I just went with the flow.
Tray one. Before I even had the chance to get the full invisible experience they gave me 11 attachments!
By the second day I felt so messed up because the inside of my tongue was so cut up it hurt to talk.
I can't help that people are starring at my teeth and questioning what's going on with them. Like I have food in my teeth and they don't say anything. Lol
I feel setback a.ready because they couldn't get me in for a week later than expected so my first and second trays for an extra 4 days.
Oh and what's with the lisp. ?!?!?
2 days in and I was about ready to throw these things away and ask for metal. Bahahaha. Seriously. But, I had a talk with myself and said suck it up things will get better. It's amazing how much a nail file changed my world. As soon as the sharp edges were filed down I felt like I was in heaven. I slowly learned how to talk again. Although, I feel like I may be battling a speech situation with each new tray I'll survive. I'm still paranoid people are staring at my teeth, but this is just preparing me for when I get those big noticAble attachments on all my front teeth.
My only serious drawback I can think of as of now is cleaning these things. I feel like it takes way too much time. I soak them everyday with a retainer cleaner and then use Qtip to clean the edges. But I need some legit advise.
So there it is. I'm 3 days away from changing tray. I will have a total of 31 trays. The worst set is done and al out over with, now time for the rest. Yay!!cant wait to see all the changes.

Thanks for sharing your journey with this community. It sounds like you're experiencing the typical challenges with the first few Invisalign trays. Things will get better, I promise. I hope you'll continue to update us on your progress, and that you'll let us know if there's anything we can do for you.

I am halfway done with my invisalign and every two days I soak my trays in a mixture of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. It not only cleans them really well but also takes care of that weird smell trays start to have after wearing them for couple of days. Rest of the time, I just quickly brush them with regular soap and rinse them really well with plain water before putting them back in. Good luck with your invisalign journey!!
I would advise switching your trays right before bed and think about taking a Tylenol. That way you're asleep for the worst part of your new trays. I only noticed the speech issues with my first tray.
I too have eleven attachments (put on at appointment one, yippee), but lucked out that none were placed on the top and bottom four front teeth. My second hardest tray has been my fifth one because I was thrust into the magical world of elastic bands with my Invisalign. Keep taking photos during your journey. You might not see it yourself but when you compare Tray 1 to Tray 5, you'll find more of a reason to wear them as much as possible.
Everyone has different ways of cleaning their trays. I tend to soak mine in half hydrogen peroxide, half water every few days, but brush them out after I brush my teeth after every meal. I've also soaked them in mouthwash a few times but I prefer not risking a small tint of whatever color the mouthwash is.
