Hair growing back and scar healing well

WORTH IT$6,500
My scalp has been super itchy! The sensation is slowly coming back, so to relieve my head, I am constantly drumming my fingers on my scalp. The itch is so strange because it feels like it’s layers deep.
It has not really been sore at all. Random pants of pain but more to do with the sensation coming back.
For a few weeks while the scar was healing, it looked like I had really bad dandruff. I’ve been wearing my hair side parted, and tied back for work, which covers the scar.
A few things to note:
- No hair loss whatsoever. I am very happy with my decision.
- Dr Martnick’s procedure is very gentle. She does not cut around where your main blood supply lies. She is also super gentle and massages your scalp forward. I highly recommend her and Dr Aalia.
- I had minimal laxity and I wanted maximum forehead taken down. So my scar is on my hairline, not in it. I’m happy with that.
- My hair has always been very fine and sparse. I have lost no density, although the sparsity I always had is more noticeable now because my scalp is now visible from the front. This doesn’t other me, because I can disguise it by wearing my hair different ways.

It looks great. I wish she did surgery in Melbourne too as its a bit more daunting going to Sydney. I have to work on my husband to get him to let me do it as he's not really into plastic surgery. Do you know what Dr Martinics qualifications are? Is she a plastic surgeon at all? Or is she just qualified in medicine?
She’s been performing the surgery for 25 years - not sure on the specifics of her quals, but she has plenty of experience and accreditations :-)
It looks great! I have to get my funding together so I can get this done ASAP!
def do it. so happy I did. my scar is getting by the day. barely visible now and zero hair loss.
I keep checking in to see your progress! Looks so good! Have you experienced any hairloss? My biggest concern! X
no hair loss at all :-)
That is great! Very reassuring.
We have a similar shape hairline mine is very thin and high in the temple area. What is your hair density like?
It is a shame that Dr martinik doesn't do much advertising. I was considering going with dr nettle. But it will cost me around 20 grand!
I have just booked a consult! So nervous but excited.
Do you have to style your hair differently now?
My hair density sux. My hair is fine and thin and naturally black (with a really white scalp). I looked at Dr Nettle initially too - but way out of my price range.
Sounds like we have the exact same hair type! I know! When I initially had a consult with him it was 11 grand and it has gone up to 19 grand. I originally was going to hold off and get it done by him and wait till I was more financially secure and now that I am I can't afford him! How much did you end up paying with dr martink? Did she show you heaps of before and after pictures in the consult? And did you have to have any medication prior to your surgery? I was told by dr nettle to have regain for women to rub on my hair where it is fine in the temples and to have iron tablets.
Sorry about all the questions! X
it’s a really popular surgery so all clinics have put their prices up dramatically. I ended up paying $6500 including consults but she has put her prices up too. I saw a few before and after pics but you’ll def see more than I did because so many girls have had the same surgery since I did. I didn’t take any medication prior to. I didn’t use regain either. I just ate super healthy :-)
Did Dr Martinik do your surgery or was it Dr aliaayusof?
Dr Martinick did the surgery and Dr Yusif assisted
Great! I changed my date and I am now seeing dr martinik phewff!
Also when you say you where conscious the entire time of your surgery does that mean you where awake? Like not dreaming?
Also I get psoriasis in my scalp I am so worried this will cause hair loss! Going to book in for January next year! So excited but so anxious!
no they put me to sleep :)
no they put me to sleep
Thank you so much for your information on your journey. I am seriously contemplating getting this done as my hairline so so far back, but my family are all saying I'm crazy and it's all in my head. I want to share photos with you all to get other opinions. I have my consult booked in Melbourne for my surgery with dr martinick too so will let you know my journey in a separate thread. I would also have to travel to Sydney too. I'm super scared of the whole idea though especially having a drain in my head. I'm super scared of losing my hair as well. Do you know what the chances are of this happening as I have no idea. Yes the price has increased now $8,880 bummer, coz after flights and accommodations it adds up.
I told my parents and they said I was crazy too. but they both agreed I look a lot better. I only wish I had done this in my 20s! I was super scared - but I made sure I did little things to bring me comfort because I went alone. I had my iPad and watched a series I was really into, I made sure to text friends (even though they didn’t know where I was and I told everyone I was at a work conference!) I also ordered yum food from Uber Eats and had some yummy drinks in my hotel fridge (different juices). the drain is uncomfortable but tbh i was so high it was all a blur. the biggest shock for me was how swollen my neck and sides of my head were - my ears stuck right out the next day!
Does it hurt to get the drain removed? I heard its really bad.
Where did you stay because im looking up close accommodation and its like $200+ per night!
The twilight thing scares me too i dont want to be aware of whats happening at all.
Also how much time would you have to take off from work?
it was uncomfortable to have the drain removed. not sore - and I have the lowest ever tolerance for pain. I stayed at the Marlow Central Hotel and walked (apart from after my surgery when I caught a taxi). the twilight thing was like a dream. I was conscious the entire time but most people sleep. you can’t feel anything and if you do feel any pain at all, they dial up your pain relief. If I can do it anyone can do it :-)
I took 9 day off work. my scar was super noticeable though and the pain relief made me really sick. take a week off at least and then see how you go.
Thank you i have my consult next week and may book surgery for March so i will then open my own story up to share.
My family says the exact same thing about all being in my head.
I say if it's an insecurity that really bothers you why not fix it? It is no different to want braces to fix crooked teeth or a boon job to fit a flat chest. So excited for you!
hi there! how is our recovering going to date?? are you happy with the result??
So happy! I forget I even had the procedure done :)

Before and after pics

I booked a hotel 20mins from the clinic and arrived in Sydney 2 hours before my op at 2pm. I went to the clinic to drop my bags off and went shopping just around the corner. Before my surgery I sat down with Dr Martinick and Dr Aliaa Yuseff to run through expectations. They were nice, comforting and hopeful I would get the result I wanted.
I didn’t have a lot of laxity and was told I had 2cms give. Perhaps if I had massaged my head more I would have had more flexibility so just a heads up to anyone getting this operation - if you don’t have good laxity please remember to massage! However both drs said they do their best to get more as my forehead was so massive - 9cms! As long as they could get at least 2cms though, I knew I’d be happy.
I remember everything including the conversation i had with the drs as the procedure was being done. Apparently some people remember everything during twilight and some remember nothing. I felt pain a couple of times so said something and the anaesthetic was increased. It was like being between awake and dreaming. At the end of the op, the drs told me 2.5cms were taken off and I was really happy with that. I was given pain killers and a sleeping tablet to go home with and I hopped in a taxi, went to the hotel, ate a roll with avo and tuna I’d made up with stuff I got from the city supermarket then propped myself up to sleep. I woke at 2.30am feeling discomfort (I usually sleep on my side by couldn’t because of the drain), so took more pain killers and slept again.
Went back in to the clinic the next day and had my “after” photos taken. So so happy with the result. Goodbye ninehead! The next day my ears were sticking right out due to swelling. I had a lot of (and still have a lot of at 6 days after surgery) swelling as well as yellow bruising. My head feels super tight all over and my ears and neck were and are still feeling sore, but I had very little laxity so the pull was tighter than other people may experience.
I had my surgery on the Wednesday and flew home on the Friday. On the weekend I stopped wearing my headscarf and started pulling my fringe over the scar.
No hair loss at this stage. Very happy with the decision.
I am having my stitches out in 2 days and will lot more pics then.

For reference I had the surgery on the 8th nov. The after pics were taken on the 9th and I’m now at 6 days post surgery. Stitches are still in.
Looks amazing! Thanks for the update!! Wishing you a speedy recovery. Feeling more confident about my surgery in Dec now! Thank you!!
Just saw you did an update! I've been thinking about you! Result looks awesome btw, and it's going to be even better once the hairs grow in a bit and your hair will beautifully frame your face :) Just remember to keep talking your supposed! Can't wait to see more pics as the days/weeks pass xo
Taking your supps lol.
Silly phone
What supps are you taking? I haven’t got any, I just eat lots of nutritious foods. Maybe I’ll try silica. What are you taking?
Congrats!! You look awesome already and more importantly sound happy with the result so far. I'm getting this done in December- as a fellow 9-cm pre, could you elaborate on the massaging? This is the first I've heard about this!
Massage the back and sides of your scalp everyday for 15 mins. Up and down - to improve the laxity. It can assist with allowing more give during your procedure :-)
So have you got reduced from 9cm to 7? Looks fab x
Definitely an improvement haha. I think I’m just under 7 now.

Here are some before pics

I absolutely despise how my head slopes back. I really hope I can get 3 cms off. I'm scalp massaging every day. Fingers crossed.
I'm not really sure what's going to happen with my hairline, especially round the temples but anything is an improvement on why my hairline currently is... surely?!

Replies (2)

You're right we do have very similar hairlines, I thought your post was mine haha! I really hope she can round it out a bit when she lowers it. Are you taking any supps before/after?
Your hairline is rounder, you're lucky - I look like a balding old man with my hair line. So depressing. I think after I have it lowered I may need grafting done in the temple area. I'll see how I go. I'm not taking any supps (was told not to in the consultation). What about you?
I had my hairline reduction a few days ago. He took out my balding temples too :).
So I got two major issues done, large forehead and high temples
@Monica567 your hairline looks amazing! You must be so pleased with the result! I hope the dr can sort out my embarrassing temples. I look like I have a receding hairline.
Yes every doctor I consulted with said with the reduction it would reduce the high temples. It was an inch of receding temples
I'm very happy with the results. Now I'm just praying for no crazy hair loss
Hey! How did you go? I’m booked in with the same Dr in December and just want to see how everything went
It went really well. Best decision I’ve made. So happy with the result. Best of luck!
