Im just sharing my result from my jaw or massetter botox 4 months ago (pics taken at 3 months). had 180 units of dysport in total for both side (equivalent to 30-35 units of botox on each side). The downside is my face feels heavy especially the left one and i notice slight sagging. Im not sure if i like my results.

Botox to jaw masseter muscle felt tiring to open the mouth and eat/chew food, it was like having to make the effort to lift/open the mouth. Also when having to speak, it didnt feel very mobile when having to move the mouth, it was tiring to even speak. The results looked effective but started to wear off at 6 months and lasted a year.

i feel like mine wore off after 4 months..coz from then on i could eat/smile normally again. however i think it might take another couple of months for the masseter to build up again. my face feels heavy especially around my mouth because i think its due to the fact that the muscle has weakened and there's no support for the fat on my face hence the heaviness?i hope this goes away soon it's been 4 months and a half

The heaviness I associated with the fact that the botox weaken the muscle and it made it feel like I had to really make the effort to open or move my mouth. I felt tired of having to make the effort to open my mouth and chew ,therefore just didnt want to eat or talk much. I had 250 units on one side, 200 on other side. When the botox on the masseter muscle wears off, the muscles gain strength and the heaviness goes away, the muscle becomes more mobile. Give it 6 months.

i really hope as you said, this will wear off in 6 months along with its side effect. my left side feels really saggy and uncomfortable i am so depressed. after 4 months and a half there seems to be no improvement :'(

It will take about 12 months to completely wear off. Botox doesn t last forever so no worries.

thank you for all these replies :)) i really appreciate it. makes me feel better too

The results are quite astonishing. I am having mandibular angle reduction in December 2015 in Thailand. I don't think botox is for me - will discuss with surgeon during consult. However, it is good to see what is achievable with botox. Thank you for sharing.

thanks for the comment. what do you think of my result? is it astonishing in a good way or bad? i can't decide for myself lol please be honest. out of curiosity why do you think botox isn't for you? :)

There are patients who went there for mandibular jaw angle reduction and have ended up with their jaw angles overcut, requiring reconstructive surgeries and have to wear jaw angle implants with screws in their faces, etc. This surgery can result in overcut jaw angles, broken jaw, damage roots to teeth, etc. There are many plastic surgeons doing this surgery. However, one MUST see a craniofacial surgeon for this.

See what happened to this patient who had mandibular angle reduction. Look at the middle picture and see how it resulted in sagging when there is less bony support along the jaw line.( Search on realself for: " chigirl.1972 Midface Lift...disaster. Need Help - Los Angeles, CA"

I meant it in a good way. I will actually have forehead lifting, mandibular angle reduction and chin advancement, and alarplasty performed in December. That is unless my surgeon does not recommend some of the interventions - or maybe I can toss a few other in addition as well :D I would like something a softer face, more feminine.
My face is round-ish and I would like it more angular both from front and side profiles. If I were to go with botox, that would mean frequent injections (I suppose every 6 months in the worst case?). I need something that would last more longer.
All in all, if you are satisfied with the current result - minus the downsides you just describes about your left side - do you envision having more invasive surgery in the future with regard to your jaw?

EcoFrei:You mentioned,"My face is roundish, I would like it more angular." For a more angular face, one will need jaw angle implants to create angles. On the opposite, when one gets rid of the jaw angles/mandibular jaw reduction, the face looses angularity and looks more rounded.
If you post your pics and Ask A Doctor(send in your question/pics to realself), then you will find out what doctors suggest to get more of an angular face. Lots of people want more of an angular face with definition, doctors suggest jaw angle implants. Posts pics and let lots of doctors and others see before you proceed. Some docs even do Morphing for you when you email them,to help you envision the outcome.

Hi i at this point i dont think i'll do it again :'( i feel like the result isn't worth the discomfort and pain on my left jaw. i also feel like my face has sagged which has always been my worst fear. i've only had this done once and i'm into 4 months and a half now, hoping it's going away soon this is really killing me :(((
all the best for your surgery in Thailand, i agree that botox seems like a waste as you have to keep redoing it, but on the bright side at least it's "temporary" (i hope so at least) so if you don't like the result it's not the end of world, though i applaud your courage of going through so much done. i wouldn't even have the balls especially after what happened.

WARNING: Jaw/Mandible Bone Reduction Surgery
1. Should only be done by craniofacial surgeons. There are plastic surgeons (not craniofacial surgeons with additional training)cutting people’s jaw. Google for international craniofacial surgeons on " www.iscfs.org/directory/"
2. The surgeon can overcut the jaw angles, requiring reconstructive surgery of having to wear jaw angle implants plus screws to restore normal jaw angles.
3. Patients have had their jaws broken.
4. A patient who had this surgery done, ended up with their teeth/roots of their teeth affected by this surgery.
5.Taking away bone support will contribute to sagging ( which require facelifts?)
6.As soon as you take away the bony support, the soft tissues in its original position will no longer have support and it will move forward which means the frontal part of your face will look fuller. There can be sagging of the cheek soft tissue (fat, muscles and skin) due to the detachment of their original anatomical attachment.
7. In a case which resulted in prominence of the jowl area, this canc be related to residual inferior border of mandible that was not cut completely resulted in sharp angulation mimicking a projection or secondary mandibular angle.
8. There are surgeons who say there will be no sagging. But after the surgery, they 've said, " A facelift will help tightend the skin".

BOTOX to the masseter can help taper the face, making it look slimmer without changing the bone structure of your face. It is less invasive than cutting the jaw bone. Hopefully BOTOX is safe enough.

This is nothing compared to the jaw bone reduction. When the jaw bone gets removed, the soft tissue detached from the bone ,moves forward and the corners of the mouth really droops down. This looks good. If sagging bothers you that badly, just let the botox wear off and you probably never want jaw bone reduction or botox to masseter. What you have is not noticeable(to me), you look good I think.

Botox doesn't last forever. It's effectiveness wears off, mine was about 12 months, my face went back to what it was before botox.

I have had this done 10 years ago but I didn't see an improvement and my dermatologist said it wasn't a gold star result so he didn't encourage me to do it. I understand now why. My dermatologist is one of the best in Sydney. He is conservative. All good sergeons are. They never blasted me like this lady did which is why you felt all those side effects. But I can tell you now I am ASTONISHED at th results! You can see a vast improvement! I am unsure of what you mean by sagginess as the botox is suppose to tighten but maybe as it shrunk the muscle so much there is skin there now that will take a while to snap back. That just proves how effective it was. Did you get a second opinion anywhere else? I am def going to start getting this done.
You look really different, pretty in both pics. A heavy feeling face doesn't seem very pleasant though. Do you think you'll do this again?
