Day 9
So on Friday (day 6) I went to the doctor to have my stitches removed. I don't have a set Dr I visit so I ended up with a man I had never seen before. The wait was really long and the clinic was very busy. When it was my turn I went in and showed him the letter from my surgeon and explained it and he took one look at the stitches and said he said make an appointment for Monday and I'll do it then. I asked why and he just brushed me off saying they look inflamed, not once did he even look me in the eye! I was in and out within 90 seconds. I'm positive it was because theyre so fine and there was so many of them that he just felt pressured for time and didn't want to do it. I was on my way to the meet my family on our weekend away though so I had to accept it and leave. On Saturday I just googled to see how long facial stiches could be left in as it was going to be day 9 not day 5 as recommended by my surgeon and I wasn't happy with that. And everywhere I found online said between 4-6 days! Turns out longer than that can cause permanent train-track scarring from the where the stitches were pressed into the skin!! Obviously I want my scar as scar as invisible as possible so I booked a different doctor and had them removed at lunchtime on the Sunday.
This other man was super lovely and triple checked every last stitch was out even though it took him ages because he was being so gentle not to hurt me haha. Having them finally out feels sooo good! My skin around where the stitches were is very dry and flakey now but I can see the new healing pink skin all healing nicely. Today was my first day back at work and nobody noticed a thing! Most people just thought I looked "prettier" today because I swapped my glasses for contacts and have my hair parted in the centre instead of at the side as I had for years. I just put a little bit of tinted moisturiser over the scar where it may become visible and even I couldn't see it when I looked hard in the mirror.
I'm still applying vitamin E cream daily and when I hit the 2 week mark I will be applying Strataderm instead.
Feel free to ask me any questions!

Day 5
I was told I could have my stitches out between 5-6 days after surgery. I've decided to wait til tomorrow (day 6) because surely having an extra day of healing would be better!
Since my last update (I think it was day 1 post?) I've had probably only 1/10 swelling, if that! I'm not sure if I've just been super lucky or it's down to the supps you lovely ladies mentioned on your own post. Either way I've been super happy with that.
Day 2 I just lazed around in the hotel room reading and watching movies. Dr Aliaa (another one of the surgeons who helped and I also met in my consultation) said I could mix Dettol antibacterial hand sanitizer with warm water and use that as a shampoo. Be prepared to have little spots of dried blood washing off other parts of your scalp where it settled and dried in the lovely matted birdnest your hair became.
Day 3 I was feeling pretty good and the weather was nice so I went to Bondi and did the Bondi to Bronte walk along the coast (: It was this morning though I started feeling insanely itchy all over the top numb section of my head. It's like having mosquito bites 4 layers of skin deep that you can't actually relieve!!! One because it's 4 layers deep lol but also because your scalp is numb. It's the weirdest most unpleasant sensation. I found if I drummed my fingers on my scalp it slightlyyyyyyyyyyy felt like I was itching it. Not sure if it just aggravated it more though haha as I usually then had to run to grab my ice pack before I ripped my scalp off (: I put up with it for a few hours before I decided to call Dr M and she told me it's caused by the nerves becoming resensitized again and trying to reform their connections as well as likely a bit of inflammation. She told me to go buy some antihistamines and it would help. I pretty much ran to the chemist haha! but she was right, I got the double strength ones and it definitely helped.
Day 4
Feeling better each day! Looked in the mirror again and started to wish I went a bit lower. I know any more though and it would be more noticeable that I had something done. And because not even my parents know, I couldn't be too drastic. 20 years and they know this face pretty well ha ha. I was snap chatting someone in the morning and they said "Why are you looking so radiant, have you done something to your hair?" They literally had no idea! But what a lovely first compliment hey? With that surge of self confidence i boldly strode into the glorious sun to show off my new forehead to make my way the syndey harbour bridge. It was about 5 minutes into my train ride that I realised Stupid girl! You can't let your incision in the sun!! Now with confidence gone and foolishness kicking in I made my to the nearest shop to buy another cap LOL.
At about 6pm I flew back home again which brings me to today..
Day 5
Unfortunately this morning I had to have a check up with my skin cancer clinic and the lady wanted to check along my hairline too! EEK! As she went to start she froze and I quickly began to explain so she didn't freak out. She was super intrigued and kind about it though. She told me she's never seen that before but she can see it's healing really well and I'm looking good.
Tomorrow after I get my stitches out I'm going away with my family for 3 days.. let's hope noone looks too closely! I forgot to ask at what stage I can cover the incision with make up? :/
It's going to be pretty sunny though so it won't be weird if I'm in a cap alot, especially since just having some suss spots checked out.
I'll do another review after the weekend which will be around day 10.
Another weird thing to note is this super strange feeling of fluid running down the curvature of my head when I lean over and stuff (flowing from the crown to the incision and back the other way). Kind of syrupy and slow though. Not really bothering me at all but I wasn't expecting it and feels so weird!
At this stage no hairloss that I've noticed. No pain since the day of the op.
VERY MILD yellow bruising starting around my temples and front of incision, only really noticable if my hair is pulled back which it hasn't been yet.
Oh ALSO! (Sorry this is getting super long winded and I'm starting to ramble) but MAKE SURE YOU CLOSE ALL OVERHEAD CUPBOARDS AND DONT BE A LAZY ASS! I was making breakfast and coffee at the same time as as I turned away from a cupboard I just opened to grab something else, I turned around and hit my temple FULL FORCE into the sharp metal corner of the cupboard door. I literally dropped to my knees grabbing my head. Not sure how much damage has been done but it wouldn't surprise me if I get a bit of worse scarring there because I definitely ripped my stitches back open in that spot :( I cleaned off all the blood and iced the hell out of it but only time will tell.
