My sad story started 4 years ago when I decided to put composite veneers (dental bonding) on my 4 front teeth to close gaps and also reduce sensitivity.

My dentist did a great job and I really liked the new smile, but... right after the procedure I started experiencing extremely dry mouth, sticky stringy saliva, burning tongue with deep cracks and white coating, constant headache, fatigue and depression. I was feeling absolutely horrible and hopeless. No doctor believed me that my symptoms somehow could be veneers related because they have never heard of it. They just thought I am crazy and told me I will get used to it.

Eventually, 2 years later, after multiple unsuccessful attempts to resolve my health issues with changing diets, taking vitamins and antidepressants, visiting GPs, dentists, doing X- rays and blood tests I asked my dentist to remove the veneers.

Fortunately, my own teeth were not prepared for composites and I basically got my original smile back... as well as my gaps and tooth sensitivity.

It took very long time for me to feel better and I still experience some dryness in my mouth (I guess because my teeth are not 100% clean from the bonding material), but it's nothing comparing to what it was and I can live with it.

Recently, I came across an article about dental materials saying that most composite resins are TOXIC and contain Bisphenol-A (BPA) and the damage it does to the human body is almost irreversible.

I would really appreciate a RealSelf doctor opinion on the issue.
