Hi,
I've been searching for a good plastic surgeon/comestic surgeon in sydney, australia to have my rhinoplasty done but there are not enough reviews ! I find that some are bias or do not name and shame the poor-experienced surgeons..
I have a consultation with dr andrew kim in sydney soon and was hoping I could get some opinions about him. I am asian myself so should I stick with an asian doctor or do caucasian surgeons know how to perform an asian rhinoplasty.
THanks.

i heard really bad rumors about him. Including that he wasn't properly certified. I went there to see dr kim. For a long time I thought he would be the one to do my nose. But nope. I'm looking elsewhere now.

Just saw this post...I hope you find someone soon. Would you consider going to Thailand?
November 4, 2014
No worries. Nah not Thailand. I think I'll be going to Korea for the rhinoplasty and a possible chin implant. How about you?

I don't know anyone or where to start in Korea. For Thailand I heard Bumungrad is a good hospital but I am still wanting to have more information on which specific surgeon to do my nose and lip lift. Do you know which Korean hospital or surgeon you would consider?

I never heard of that hospital before but it looks really good. Me too! Its hard to find a good surgeon to do the implant. What implant are you gonna get for the Rhinoplasty? I was thinking of getting the silicon then I read that if you have a habit of pinching the bridge, the implant could shift down creating a gap on the top of your bridge. So I thought, Gore-tex will be good implant since that eventually won't be able to move down or sideways. But implants will eventually need to be replaced right? Also there is always the risk of infection..... The hospitals that I was thinking of going was Item ,JK, BK Dr Shin yong ho, Pitangui, JW Dr suh. To be honest with you, I like JK right now since it won awards in 2011 and 2012 best for foreign patients. Also Item looked like the cheapest for implants.

Is JK a hospital? Like to find out more since it has won 2011 and 2012 for best foreign patiens...? Most PS advice people to go for their own cartilage instead of using implant but I am not sure if Asian noses will be able to achieve that elusive tip definition without an implant? I have enjoyed your feedback...thanks.

Oh... I think it's a hospital. I thought it was like bk? Has multiple floors for everything that they can do. Yeah I have tried to look into jk winning that award. But I have only found one that went there. But seeing that the patient didn't put any photos of her face surgery progress, it's a possible chance that she might be trying to sell others to go there. It has said that most asians have thick skin so it will be harder to make the shape but easier to heal?. Oh, I'm not going to do the bridge, im going to get the tip and possibly the alar as well. But I don't think jk do alars. If you do choose a clinic give me a heads up? I would like to hear about your progress.

So far I am researching Bumungrad, Yahnee, Dr Wong in Singapore Novena Pte Hospital...but nothing firm yet. I am also thinking of incorporating a lip lift in the same operation. Maybe even a face lift. For Thailand I hope to see if any of my girlfriends would like to come along and do the same op as me as going alone is sort of a big leap at the moment. Need to build up my courage. Perhaps with more information I will be ready at some point.

Haha you're welcome? Though I feel that korea isn't the destination you are choosing for your ps. Sounds like a huge operation compared to my one. Can I ask, why are you going there instead of korea?

At first I was thinking Korea as it is famous but I can't find much information on the internet. Then when I saw your blog and got excited that maybe I can re-consider Korea afterall. There are too many hospitals and plastic surgeons in Korea so I think its very important to know the exact PS to go to for that such an important surgery...also wanted to know if they have go-between that can act as translators, arrange accomodations...look after me(us) for the 1st few nights,etc...I like to be able to visualize how the whole journey would work out before I go. I still hope you will keep us all posted so I can find out more but I got the feeling maybe you are not definite about Korea either?
November 5, 2014
Oh man I somehow let you down with that haha.... There are so much in korea. I guess the one advantage is that the consultations are free and the clinic buildings are roughly in the same place. There is Zoe for the korean translator. But there is a company that does your whole trip like seol touch up. However I would prefer to get a translator that's not working for a clinic since they may of signed a dodgy form saying that they have to say this and that and can't say etc.... For now I'm looking into korea since it looks like the best place to go for asian rhinoplaty. But that can vary depending on what else I could fish up on the net. And a while back I looked at other countries like us, Thai and japan. (Not sure if i mentioned it). I found a really good doctor in us for asian rhinoplasty cartilage but that was a extremely expensive. E.g bridge $20k.

20K is too much...how much do you think Korea will costs around?
November 5, 2014
I think half that maybe less. I know that silicon with cartilage tip is $6000 (aus)

Hi, I am in the same boat as you...I feel what you say is totally on point! I would love to know how you went with Dr Andrew Kim as I maybe visiting Sydney in a 2 or 3 weeks and so maybe able to also see him for a consult if your experience bears out well. Thanks in advance...

Did you see him afterall? If you are not going with him...do you have another plastic surgeon you are considering? I have also thought of going to Thailand for this since the Thais are Asian and should be familiar with Asian Rhinoplasty...huge thanks for sharing.
