So I am without aligners now. I am happy with the results, although i could probably consider some veneer on my front tooth who got badly worn at one angle because of its terrible position. On the other side, i just could not be bothered too much anymore, i am already super satisfied with the results!

I will now wear retainers every night for 3 months then if everything goes according to plan, i could wear them only one night per week. I ordered the vivera retainers and should get them within a week, in the meanwhile i'll wear my last set of aligners. I am super happy and satisfied with the result.

Some extra feedback:
- accelerator: I used it throughout my treatment but i have to say i did not like it. I tended to forget it, and the plastic felt pretty cheap (and got actually broken couple of times). I did it because i wanted to make sure the treatment worked according to plan but i am not 100% convinced by this device...
- chewies: i got them at two occasions during the treatment but never got myself to chew on them for more than couple of days. They are tough and made me gag every two minutes, i just could not bear it. They were not very critical for my treatment so i did not feel too bad about skipping them.
- elastic band: i originally thought i would hate it but they are not that bad. Once you master how to put them on, it is a no-brainer. I quickly moved to the smallest bands and did not regret it, as i could soon just wear it at night only instead of keeping them during the day too.
- migraine: after the treatment migraine episodes were less frequent. They did not disappear entirely because they are also hormones-induced, but I could spot a pattern (once a month, during my periods), making them easier to prevent or at least make them less painful. Follow-up with osteopath was very useful as he helped releasing tensions in the skull created by the treatment. Outside migraine episodes, back and neck pain have completely disappeared.
- cleaning the aligners: i bought a ultrasound cleaner and never regretted my purchase. It was a very efficient, non-chemical way and pretty economical (35 $ all in all). When i was travelling, i simply used water and tooth paste to clean my aligners but they never felt as clean as with the ultrasound cleaner.

All in all, i just cannot recommend enough Invisalign. It WORKS. Even on a complicated case like me involving front teeth, overbite, etc. Even when all other orthodontists told me "not for you". It takes commitment (wearing them) but in about 14 months, i achieved a pretty amazing result and i am super proud and happy! What do you think?

One day before freedom (at last)!

I had a three-month break in my treatment in order to get the new set of aligners for refinements. During this time, I wore my last set of aligners during the nights only. No attachments. I really enjoyed being free of them during the summer time, not having to think too much about what i was eating, etc.
Unfortunately I needed refinements, especially for my upper teeth which were not perfectly aligned. 39 extra sets, more or less the same number of attachments as in the first round, elastic band on one side during the nights, let me tell you I was rather disheartened when I walked out from the orthodontist. But I told myself this was only a 4-month thing and I would be free at last. And the results will be great.
Tomorrow, I am getting off the aligners and the attachments. For good. I. can. not. wait. I will get a thin wire on the back of my teeth to maintain them in place and some retainers to wear at night.

Now that I am getting at the end of my treatment, I feel like it is the right time for some more general feedback and advices:
- wear your aligners. I wore my aligners minimum 21 hours a day, and my average wearing time was above 22 hours. This way i manage to keep on track with the schedule and not lose extra time. You can definitely eat with the aligners on, it is not nice, but it will not break them and it will be easier to keep them the recommended time per day. I usually kept them for eating while at home or for a small snack, and was taking them off when feeling self-conscious like at work or in social events. Since I was changing them every 3-3,5 days i was not too concerned about staining, but they do stain quickly if you eat with them on. I noticed red wine, some spices but also some chicken/vegetable stock (bought from the supermarket) stain very much the aligners.
- keep high hygiene standards, especially if you had cavities before invisalign. I did not develop any cavities or other issues during my treatment, but i was careful with cleaning and flossing after every main meal. I also visited the dentist and hygienist more often (twice a year). However, i quickly skipped brushing after having coffee or tea, or even a little snack. I was simply rinsing my mouth with water. I was lucky (good genetics in regard of teeth) but also i guess my eating/drinking habits helped a lot (i am drinking mostly only water, tea or coffee without milk or sugar ; i am eating mostly fresh food i cook myself).

I do not wear my aligners on that pic, contrary to the other ones i posted here.
