Hi All!!
Sorry this is a long while since last update! I meant to report something sooner. I am still more than pleased with my results and how they have even improved over the years since first treatments. My face is still very voluminous and I am hoping I can wait a little extra time before next treatment this time. Comparing photos, my cheeks are as plump as ever and the results have lasted a while. Results still are very even in appearance and very natural. I have nothing to complain about!!

You look beautiful! I'm 56 and also have lost a ton of volume in my cheeks. I look like a heroin addict, LOL. I just got one vial of sculptura along my sagging jawline and I'm getting one more in my temples and the hollows of my cheeks. I do have a question for You if you don't mind. I was supposed to massage 5× a day for 5 days. Like an idiot I didn't! There aren't any bumps but I read they can appear many months later. Now I'm scared. Did you massage like instructed ? Thanks so much !

I slipped a little on the massaging the past times I've gotten the treatments. I did not massage evenly and on time the intervals I was told to and for the full 5 days....I think after the second treatment I first felt a nodule/bump. Only had this one small bump under orbital area that I feel but can't see...no one would ever know unless they smushed my cheek and pushed their finger on it...I was worried about it at first , but now its been there 2 years and not growing , not really diminishing...just there haha ....I never had bumps appear so far later , and this one i have appeared within the first few days....i shouldve massaged better and try to every time, but the face is so sore after the treatments , makes it difficult! Also, thank you for the compliment!

Hi there! I've used sculptra for 10 years and am closer to your age. I always do the message and have NEVER had an issue or a lump or bump. It's best to follow the directions they give you because it helps the product distribute evenly, but you are probably ok. At 56, you will likely need more than just 2 vials all together. I didn't notice my real results until after my 3rd or 4th vial, and then I was beyond happy and satisfied. Results are long - lasting and natural looking.

Thank you for your comment and yes the results do last a long time...I feel like now being 13 months past my last treatment i'm due for a touch up....but I dont think I need it really when I look at photos or in the mirror....seems still to be quite full in the areas I want :)

Please, please be careful with Sculptra! I used at the first time at age 40, two vials. Loved it! I went back at 45 for two more vials and six weeks later had a horrible allergic reaction. I had an unending burning rash that developed on both cheeks where it had been injected. I spent many months going on steroids and anabiotic's. The burning finally subsided almost a year later but I was left with almost like rosacea on my cheeks. If you go through RealSelf, you will find countless others who have had similar reactions or worse! Only after having had this happen to me that I investigated into the product and found that it's basically plastic beads you are injecting into your face! The collagen they talk about you developing is actually an inflammatory response in your body that form scar tissue around the product. That is supposed to be the "collagen". Some people don't develop a reaction until over a year out. Pretty scary stuff. I am sticking with hyaluronic acid fillers from now on that are reversible.

Did you try Radiesse?
March 11, 2020
No, and I won't try anything that is semi permanent I don't think ever again. Radiesse is very difficult to try and dissolve, if you can even do it! I'm just going to stick with hyaluronic acid fillers!

Good plan! I will post a new update, starting to see little red bump - shortly after last injection a small bump cropped up, looking more red now a days....hoping it is just a milia...will have to have it llooked at.

1 week post Treatment #4 , November 20th

I decided to jump on the opportunity to get treatment #4 of the Sculptra injected in my NL folds and cheeks. This time I think I have a slight complication.

Let me first talk about poor choice of timing. I got my Sculptra 2 days prior to thanksgiving. So I felt puffy and unusual in presence of the family!! No one knows I get these treatments still FYI... Being that I was faced with daily family things for the 5 days following I could not massage as long and as often as needed.

This time I did notice my left cheek/eye area hurt more than other times. I have also always had a little nodule under left eye that cannot be seen. But this time around felt more swelling and bruisieness in that area. Now, a week post, I have noticed pain seems to be getting worse again. There is a dull swelling pain under eye and in upper cheek near the orbital area/tear trough. I tried massaging through the day to flatten out any new possible nodules. But the pain seems to be further up than the injection went , unless it some how migrated?? I have no idea. But I am a bit nervous about this. I am going on a trip in two days , so I have to figure this out.

If this truly is an infection I hope a simple round of antibiotics can resolve. I hope it just is related to placement of hte nodule and that swelling/pain will settle down. Maybe I should ask advice to Dr.s on here!! Gah, not what I wanted to go through ever. I was so excited with Sculptra in previous treatments and hopign this doesn't spoil it ....or ruin my face forever. :'(

11 MONTHS POST #3

User Avatar

It is now 11 months post treatment #3 and yes I do see it diminishing a fair amount (but not completely) I guess some parts show the deflation more than others . Like my cheeks do still appear fuller than they normally would be (maybe in part to being overwieght too) but my marionette line (nasolabial folds) are deeper than they were in the summer, which is my main push to go get another treatment! I was hoping to wait until Jan...but yick I hate those creases next to mouth! :O
