My First TCA Peel to Reduce Acne Scars. Sweden, SE

UPDATED FROM frivolousgirl
21 days post

1th Time: TCA Chemical Peel 25% 2 Layers

$155
The treatment itself was excruciating.

I had the unfortunate luck of getting a huge blood filled cyst right before. She [the lady at the clinic] did a quick pore cleanse before she put on the peel, but had to work around it. Too bad, because that side had the most scarring.

I freaked out a bit on the 3rd day thinking it may never peel. I read that spritzing water can help loosen it up, so I spritz rosewater and later that evening it started to peel. By day 6 it went off pretty fast.

During this treatment I took MSM powder internally (building up the dose before the peel).
Moisturizers: MyChelle Deep Repair Cream and Polypeptide Cream. I also then went ahead and ordered Tebiskin EGF that the clinic recommended that goes along with the Enerpeel treatment that I had. In my honest opinion, the Tebiskin EGF and MyChelle Deep Repair cream worked quite much the same.
I used oils and something called A-Cream that we have here in Scandinavia, but it didn't feel as if enough the first 3 days. But at that point your skin is so dry that I don't know if anything would work. I ended up moisturizing 10 times anyways.

In the end I'm not completely happy if this would be the only thing I did for my scars. You go through a lot of pain and then the smooth dry skin fools you in thinking the new skin under looks the same. If nothing else, I feel as if the scars are more prominent now or nothing actually changed.
Though I know the peel should envoke some kind of epidermal boost, and so there's really no way to give an opinion until 1-3 months after.

3 weeks after the TCA peel I'll be doing Dermastamp, which actually brings us to today. I'm looking more forward to this one as needling seems to be the best treatment for scars. The peel was in many ways not intended to vanish my scars, but to smooth out the edges, though I don't think it did that great of a job. Not the least on the cheek that needed it the most.

I just wanted to say your so gorgeous even with the acne scars. The first thing i noticed were your eyes and hair and bone structure. Hope you have good luck on your acne scar journey ..I am also searching for treatments!!and will be doing tca but with 35% and hopefully getting it layered... have you thought of a phenol peel? I only suggest it because your skin seems fair and I know it is a risk and it is something you'd have to find someone who specializes in it but I think it would work well for your skin without the risk of collateral heat damage by lasers which could cause fat loss. Also subscicion seems like it would work well also:) ALL the best!!
Thank you dear!
uh For some reason the rest of my comment didn't get included?
I haven't heard of phenol peel, but for now I'll trust my doctor and do a set of combo-treatments of TCA and Dermastamp. Right now I'm very pleased by the Dermastamp, the results are more prominent!
I'm actually not that fair, it's the TCA that just peeled off my tan lol plus, it's winter-time :)
How long after the TCA peel did you do the Dermastamp?
So sorry, I know you said 3 weeks after TCA peel. What I meant to ask is -- if you do multiple DS treatments, how long between each?
Hi there, I will be doing my next session of TCA on the 22nd April (3 weeks later Dermastamp), which makes it 7 weeks apart since my last complete session. I was going to do it one week sooner, but it's my boyfriend's birthday that week and I don't want to look weird if we decide to go out lol
If I'm going to do a third session, it will probably be a few months later after the summer, as I don't want to worry too much or avoid the sun. Of course, hat on and SPF to not ruin what's been fixed ;) But you know.
So to summarize: you did a 2-layer 25% TCA peel, followed by Dermastamp 3 weeks later, and you're planning to repeat? Can you compare the Dermastamp to peel in terms of effectiveness and recuperation time? Thanks very much and good luck to you!
Yes, that's correct :)
My facialist said that I should have seen results immediately after the peeling, but I must say that I didn't see a difference until three weeks later before I had my Dermastamp treatment.

In terms of effectiveness I'd say: Dermastamp. I would probably have to do more sessions of the TCA if I only did that, than I would have with the Dermastamp.
Recuperation time: Dermastamp did take shorter time in terms of redness but the dry/rough skin lasted about as long time as it took to peel on the TCA. It's just that it's not as prominent peeling of skin as it is with the TCA. After 6 days I took the help of a gentle microfiber cloth to gently exfoliate the rest of the dead skin that the Dermastamp caused. Your skin heals much faster and easier after Dermastamp than TCA. With TCA, your skin will feel sensitive and new for at least 3 weeks.

However, I don't think I could choose one over the other, as both treatments together shows the best result. If you look at how most doctors work with acne scarring they will do at least two different treatments, sometimes three depending on the scarring and skin type. Search "Acne scar treatments- ULTIMATE GUIDE 2016" on YouTube, there's a really good video with Dr Davin Lim, that's worth watching! :)
Thank you so much for this helpful information!
I watched Dr Lim's entire video, and he is extremely knowledgeable and skilled in a vast array of techniques, using specialized hardware to treat different problems. Unfortunately, this is not true for most dermatologists. They may use only one or two techniques, which they suggest for all types of scars/skin issues.
I have always heard that usually with scarring and acne, a series of at least 3 peels is best. Eclipse micro pen series might be good too. Or a combination of both. I have a scar on my forehead that I've had peels on and really noticed improvements with the Eclipse micro pen; hopefully I can post pictures once I get through my series of 4. I have had 3 done so far and a couple peels. (The peel cleared up my acne problems and the micro pen has really helped my scar).
Yes, I'll be going through three sessions of TCA+Dermastamp :)
I've also noticed some reduction in my active acne since the peel!
Hi! Thank you for sharing! I think you're skin has improved a lot. Would you mind sharing the contact details for the clinic you went to? Thanks in advance and good luck with you journey
ok
I sent you a PM with the details :)
Try to do the combination of The treatments: Subcision+Dermastamp+vacuum Microdermabrasion. For every scar locally, not for the whole face! The most difficult and tricky thing us to try to elevate the bottom of the scar as much as possible! Tca cross after. Tca peeling is the finishing procedure. You did it at the begging, just took the layer of the skin, it won't do anything for the scars! Do not do lasers, they do not help scarring!
Hi, well unfortunately this is the only option I could choose between the clinics around my town. After I did the Dermastamp I got much more happy with the results. I've now currently gone through a second session of TCA and will be doing Dermastamp again in two weeks, and I'm very happy with the results :)

Of course I could probably get better results with subcision etc, but there's no one offering that in my country! And even if someone would, it would be very costly.
My clinic didn't say that TCA would reduce the scarring, it would reduce the harsh edges of scarring making them more blurred. Dermastamp would then unhook the skin, making the indent less obvious.
First, u r a beautiful girl. 2nd, I have always had problem skin too. Once I finally started to'clear up' it was time for fine lines and wrinkles and laxity to set in. I felt cheated out of any clear pretty skin. Now I am 56 and have the prettiest skin due to the relatively new Phenol peel. I told friends I was taking time off work to get it done, but when I returned and saw friends and coworkers they were amazed and immediately asked for my doctors card. Anyone wanting smooth as a baby butt skin should consider this peel. Acne scars and wrinkles - they disappear with this peel. It goes deep!

After finally getting control over my cystic acne...

After finally getting control over my cystic acne with healing my gut through diet and probiotics, I was left with a lot of scars around my cheeks. As soon as I had no active acne yet, I decided to go on a consultation on what the best treatment for my scars would be. The lady at the clinic recommended I do a TCA chemical peel to smooth out the sharp edges of my scars, to then use Derma Stamp to anchor off the deep indents of my scars.

Thanks for sharing your progress so far. How are you doing now? I hope your treatments are going well.

Hey Sharon, I totally forgot about my submission, I've now added the rest of the photos. The treatment went well, but I'm still unsure if it did anything and if I'd do it again.
Are you continuing with the dermstamp? Would love to see results as you continue. I've done two stamps and had to stop due to an infection (unrelated to the stamping) but I plan on continuing. Your skin is looking better in the photos. I know it's hard to notice on yourself as we are so critical of our own bodies, but I see a great improvement. :)
Ah thanks! Yeah, I think it's hard to see a difference when you see yourself everyday, even my boyfriend don't see the big difference. But everyone who sees me weekly, and the dermatologist at the clinic who treated me says there's definitely been some smoothing effect. So I will have to just trust the outsiders :D

Just did my first session with Dermastamp, hurt more than I thought it would... the things we do for beauty :P I will definitely put up the progress!
I also booked time for another round of TCA + Dermastamp as recommended. The clinic says that I should be happy and see big difference after 2-3 session, so that's positive :)
I had these done..it didn't do much for my scars and also just let me face red. I'm going to just get dermal fillers - my skin feel thin after these peels. I won't do any lasers in fear of making my face even more thin and red. Bellafill isn't safe and it's permanent. That's was a dermatologist just told me.
