I had Ipl and I was burned so badly. I was in a lot of pain during the procedure and had told the technician multiple times during the procedure that it was painful and burning. Immediately after finishing it became clear that I was burned. multiple people came in and tried to assure me that I was fine and I had the perfect skin and not to worry I would be perfect in a week. The next morning I had huge blisters on my face and open weeping burns. I immediately went back and they still tried to tell me I would be fine in a week. Well, it has been over 2 months and my blisters and burns are still not healed. I am very sad that this has happened and the spa I choose was negligent and clearly had the IPL way to high . My face is permanently damaged.

I hate that this happened to you. I'm here to support you if you need it. There is a topical called Biafine which is used for burn victims. Please ask your doctor for a prescription. Let me know how you're doing.

Probably not. I used a topical called Psoria-Gold 2 years out which helped reduce the chronic inflammation in my face.

@kikilisa ...do you think the psoria gold with help with the inflammation that comes and goes from my laser burns. ? It's like I have roseaca and it can get really swollen. I have to use cold water to wash my face and most face washes burn now so I'm using purpose and a mild face cream. Really curious about that stuff?

Turmeric (yes the spice) and zinc are wonderful for inflamation and rosacia. Taken internally or applied in a yoghurt mask. I try to maintain an all natural nontoxic skin regimen since ive had my own bad experiences. Cheaper, safer, easier!

Update :(

I no longer have open wounds, however I have ugly scars on both sides of my face as well as red blotches. The texture of my skin has changed. My skin feels like leather. The elasticity is no longer there. I look as though my face is 10 years older. This was such a horrible experience. I pray that nobody else goes here or would ever have to suffer through this.

I am going in for a consultation for a photofacial here in 2 days. Can you tell me who did your procedure so I can make sure I do not get her. Also have they admitted any wrong doing since you went back.

I had Erin, no they still have not made it right. They skirt around taking responsibility

Did a doctor do the procedure?

And if you check her license on the CA .gov website, you will find a clean record. You can file a complaint w/ the state if you want.

Your final picture looks pretty good. Looks like make-up would cover the red areas till they fade away.

Unfortunately make up does not cover it and the larger scars are bumpy. The texture of my skin is rough and wrinkled like leather

have you tried Emu oil? Its healing a lot on me especially a burn and some hypopigmented scaring i had from a laser burn. It also is building up the elasticity in my skin again.Hope this helps. So sorry your going thru this

I will try, Thank you for the suggestion. I have been using every skin cream, potion, lotion and prescription possible

make sure you get a certified licensed doctor. i had done with a Chinese licensed doctor who i know he is also a family doctor "skin med laser clinic", these are the doctors you should only go for.

That is no guarantee! While I was not as badly burned as this poor lady, I had a bad result, and a licensed MD who is also a plastic surgeon did mine!!!

OMG - what did they do to you?! I can't imagine how upset you must be... :( I went for IPL today for my melasma. I have read so many conflicting reports that it is the "gold standard" or could make things worse. The clinic I went to assured me it would help with 6 treatments so I decided to try but was so nervous the entire time. Is there any recourse with you after this horrible "treatment"?
November 18, 2013
Thank God you are ok after your treatment. It is so scary because you have no idea what they will do to you and if for some reason they will have the power up to high or just be inexperienced and scar you for life. They have yet to agree to settle with me or make any attempt to try and help me fix my face. I have spent thousands and thousands of dollars seeing specialist and on skin care since this IPL

I am so sorry you have had to go through all of this agony. It sounds like you were not given any explanation at all as to what happened?
