I'm a 27 year old female. Half middle eastern,...

$1,000
I'm a 27 year old female. Half middle eastern, half white and I've hated being hairy ever since I was 12! My skin color is a lighter olive and my hair color is dark brown/black. A center near by was having a new years discount of $1000 for 6 sessions for the whole body and face so I bought it (Usual price is 1500). At first I was a little worried about the price being less than some other centers. Some charge around 3500 for the whole body. I still don't know if there are disadvantages to buying a cheaper package. The center uses Candela Gentleyag laser.
I had my first session last Saturday and it went well, it was a little awkward to be fully naked for the technician and having them do my full bikini/Brazilian area but I got over it. It wasn't painful at all except in the armpit area, which made me decide to buy the numbing cream. Which made the other underarm and private parts painfree. They charged $50 for the numbing cream and I found out I could get it for $15 online. I wasn't happy about that at all. I haven't noticed any hairs falling out yet but it's only been 3 days. I will update as I get more treatments.

One week post treatment and question for those who have had laser hair removal
SFEJanuary 14, 2017
Today is one week post op. I've heard that people notice the hair that was treated falling out within a week after treatment. I didn't notice any hair falling out, and hair all over my body is growing exactly the same as before the treatment.
Has anyone had the same experience after the first treatment and still ended up with good results after multiple treatments? I know that after the first treatment I shouldn't expect many hairs falling out, but it seems like none are.

Mine took over 2 weeks to fall out. I'very done 2 treatments so far and the 2nd time the hair fell out in a week.

Thank you for your response! It's good to know that not everyone's hair falls out within a week. I was getting a little worried but I just need to be a little patient :)

Keep us posted! I'm trying to figure out if it's worth it for me to get it as well. I'm half middle eastern as well. The struggle is real

I have had my full legs done and it took a good solid 3 weeks before I had any hair "shed" I have light skin and dark coarse hair. I have finished my treatment-about 7 sessions and very rarely use a razor now. You will love it!

Awesome! Glad you like your results. Do you know what laser they used? My hair is starting to shed in certain places which is a good start!

I am not sure-but I go again for underarms next months and I will post. I started in a laser center and switched to a cosmetic dermatologists office-with better results and a super fast machine. I was shaving like 2x per day in the summer-really dark hair and now-nothing. It really was money well spent for me and I hope for you as well.

I'm glad it's working for you! I heard dermatologist offices are better, but they're way more expensive. You do get what you pay for though :)

ND YAG; possible not as effective in the long run as other lasers?
SFEJanuary 25, 2017
I have a light online skin tone with darker areas like the bikini area and underarms. The center I picked used a Candela Gentleyag. According to a few sources online, the YAG lasers are not as effective when it comes to long term results as other lasers. I know every laser will require follow up sessions, I'm just worried that with the YAG laser, more hair would come back faster. If anyone has any experience: please let me know.

There is a secret to LHR ... it's when you fill out the form at the very beginning, that sets the whole stage for your treatment. Depending on the answers, the technician sets up the parameters in the laser machine. On the ends, if you have dark skin and do not tan easy, they'll set a "low power" setting. If you had checked pale white and burns easily, that's another power setting. Talk to the technician and inform them that even though the power settings are a guideline, ask the technician to use his/her expertise to adjust the settings to maximize RESULTS.
Fall-out of the hair follicles should start the very same day and last for about a week after.
As a veteran LHR patient, in my own experience the YAG lasers are old, cheap, and not so effective. There are other machines that work so much better, at least for me ... there's the small, cold-touch, cool tip laser (not ipl) that works great!
But, as in most things, you can have a great machine and a horrible operator and it comes out botched. You can have a great technician and an old rickety machine, but the results are fantastic!

Sorry, I am just now seeing your comment :( I will let the technician know to go for a higher setting :) Thanks for the tip!!
For now I'm stuck getting treatments with a YAG laser, so we'll see how that goes. I have hair falling out in a lot of places, minus darker skin areas and lighter hair areas. I am going to another location next time and I will ask for a technician that my friend recommended, hopefully she'll do a better job.
