Breast Lift with Complications - Sugar Land, TX

I won't bore everyone with details about how long I wanted a boob lift, etc. I'll just tell you that I decided to have one with Dr. Horndeski after a friend had hers done by him and she had remarkable results. I really liked the look he was able to achieve in his patients and the fact that there would be no vertical scar was very appealing to me as well. My surgery was September 29th and there were immediate complications. The top part of my right areola died and had to be excised. I flew back to Texas (I live in Denver) on October 13th and had the first debridement. Dr. Horndeski did not cut enough tissue out the first time and it proceeded to get worse for 2 weeks before I flew back to Texas again to have it further debrided. I was left with a deep wound that tunneled in 3 directions and 2 openings along the suture line (one in each breast) that were draining excessively. At that point, the wound started to heal though and has been healing and improving ever since. I am 8 weeks post-op right now, still a small hole in my right nipple and still slight draining out of the suture line on my left breast but the improvement is heartening. I have waited to write a review because I wanted to be as clear and unbiased as I could be, and that was just not possible in the immediate aftermath of my surgery. I do not, for a minute, believe that what happened was any fault of Dr. Horndeski's. I have seen multiple doctors here in Denver and they all agree that this is just an unfortunate and rare occurrence in breast surgery and it could happen to anyone. I DO feel, however, that there could have been more concern for me as a patient from him. As you will likely read in other reviews, he is not known for great bedside manner. That is all fine and good if your surgery goes well and you heal up as you should but, in a case like mine, you really want to be coddled a bit and told that everything is going to be fine. I felt like I had to do a tremendous amount of research on my own and sought out several local doctors here before I found Dr. Huang who essentially took me on a charity case because she could see how scared I was during all of this and she just wanted me to feel confident in the healing process. She is the perfect doctor for someone who needs some emotional TLC and I feel very fortunate to have found her. I cried A LOT in the beginning. I asked myself everyday "WHY did I do this to myself?" At 8 weeks post-op, I am only just now beginning to feel "comfortable". This has been a long, slow healing process for me and at my last checkup, I was told I probably have another 6-8 weeks to go before I am fully healed. I have been on antibiotics the entire time since surgery which has also caused me concern. Hopefully I will be able to get off of them next week. I check in with Elisa periodically and send her updates on my progress. I am undecided as to what to do when the scar tissue fully develops - whether or not I will need/want a skin graft or maybe just a tattoo and call it a day? I will definitely need a scar revision and probably also some lipo in the future and I will return to see Dr. H at that time. Elisa said sometime in April, probably.
I would like to stress that I am in no way discouraging anyone from getting this procedure done. I am posting my review and pics just to let people know that this CAN happen. It probably won't, but it can so just prepare yourself for the possibilities. Because I can tell you from experience, this has been an emotionally difficult few weeks for me. Anyway, I'm happy to answer any questions that you may have and will post more pics further along my path to healing. I should mention that I do love the shape now that they are healing up better - they are starting to look more "normal" (with the exception of the hole above my nipple, of course). And mostly, I'm just excited to be able to see my body heal. Our bodies really are remarkable, beautiful machines - so show it some love. :)
