$5,000

I do like Dr. Ravi, but he as a surgeon I might have to question and I definitely question his morals towards his patients. After paying $5,000 for breast augmentation he had stated that I may need a lift too but he did not want to do it during surgery he wanted to wait until all the swelling went down to make sure and he was not going to charge us for it. Told both me and my husband. This so called FREE surgery was going to actually cost $3,000 supposedly for the hospital fee. I was not going to pay that at all FREE is FREE!! We did settle on $1,500 cost he was going to split the cost with us. He said when you are ready let me know and we will schedule the surgery. I called him a couple weeks ago to go see him and to set up surgery date and reminded him of the $1,500 agreement. He would not talk pricing with me, his new assistant said she would call me. She didn't get back to me for a week later and told me that to just fix the right side it was going to cost $2,400 to keep the price down. I almost fainted. Originally it was FREE, then $3,000 to $1,500 now $2,400 to fix just one side and leave the left side alone. SERIOUSLY!!! I told the new assistant what our prior arrangement was and she literally said to me, "I don't know what you discussed before or what prices were quoted before but we are doing different this now that I am here!!" Well that's good, I guess but I still have a major problem with both breasts and me as a doctor would not let a patient walk around looking the way I do right now, this is free advertisement. The new assistant is rude and very cold and doesn't let you talk, I really didn't have any issues with Dr. Ravi until she came aboard. So now I have to walk around with really uneven breasts, one under my armpit and looks like it is up near my collar bone while the other one looks OK, just needs a lift. I am just so disappointed, now I have to go find another surgeon and explain all of this and tell them who did it and have the whole surgery all over again.

Did you post any pictures? I don't see any. It sounds like you had a communication issue with your PS. I don't know what he told you, but I've never heard of a PS not charging for a lift. The lift is usually quoted separately from the BA. Most of the time a PS would do a lift BEFORE the BA, if done separately, so, I don't know why your PS decided to do a BA and then a lift (?) I would have to disagree that it is a question of "his morals." I would say it was a communication problem, and I would make an appointment to go in and talk to the doctor about it face to face. I would bring my husband with me since he was there the first time you talked about it. I really think that before you write a damning statement about a doctor and question his morals online that you should give him a chance (in person) to hear your complaint and to try to make it right. At least, if I were a doctor, that is what I would want.
Perhaps, if you did this, the doctor would see that you are being sincere in your efforts to work it out, and then he would be able to work with you, and you would not have to go and find another PS, which could prove to be difficult if you need a revision to your first surgery.
I am not saying you do not have an issue; But I am giving you a suggestion of an alternate way to handle it which might be more beneficial to you in the end.

In response to your comment txmom808, Dr. Ravi DID quote a price of my breast augmentation and stated that he might have to do a lift but was not sure until doing the surgery, I new he would have too. You don't nurse 4 children and not need a lift when they are sagging down to your stomach. He did the surgery and went out and told my husband that everything went fine but I still might need the lift, that he didn't do it during the surgery but that he would NOT charge us for that. When I woke up he told me the exact same thing. I went for all of my follow-up appointments and as the swelling was going down the right side of my breast was not going down as the left so he said to just keep pressing from the top going down as you are suppose too. Well after 6 months my left breast did need a lift (which if he would have done it during the surgery there would be no issue). On the other hand the right breast is ridiculously higher than the left bc it never went down and he new it wasn't going down all along and the bottom of the right breast sags longer than the left. I would be ashamed as a doctor to let a patient to walk away with results like that! When we discussed going in to fix them I said to him now this is going to not cost me anything correct, you told both my husband and I that you would not charge us if you had to go back and do lifts. He completely just looked at me and said my nurse will call you with the appointment. Would not answer me or anything. That is rude!! Then the nurse calls me a couple days later and says it will cost $3,000. I said oh no it will not, Dr. Ravi told us this would not cost us anything. She said well we have the hospital costs, I told her then he should have said that up front. Do she called me back and said he would pay half of it. My husband agreed. Though if anyone of you have your own business you don't have extra money until you get paid. I told her we didn't have the extra cash right now but I would call her as soon as we did. She said that was fine. Called and made the appointment, new nurse by the way, and I went in for the measurements again and I said to him again now this is only going to cost the $1,500 am I correct????? Sure enough I got that same freaking look as before and he said I'll have the nurse call you. 2 1/2 wks later she called and told me that he was going to charge me $2,000 for the left side and $3,500 for the right side because he would have to move it and do the lift!!! I told her he told me it woyluld be $1,500 , it's not like they have changed any. She told me well this is the price and I don't know or care wha your agreement with him was before I here. So I hung up on her after giving her a few choice words. That is a terrible way to do business and a horrible way to leave a patient!!! Heck I can go get a whole other breast augmentation for what he was going to charge me to fix the mess he made in the first place. Yes I do have pictures and as soon as I get home I will post them.

Dear ameyers1013,
I am sorry that you are having this problem with your doctor. It does sound like there are/were some discrepancies / miscommunications along the way with your surgical costs, which is unfortunate. It is always best if a doctor gives you a quote in writing, which is what most patients get. So, if he was not going to charge you for a lift, then he should have quoted that cost as zero. Unfortunately, it doesn't matter what was said, what matters is what you can prove. And it is terrible, but you will never get anywhere with a he said/she said.
If you do go for a revision, then be sure to pick a doctor who will give you a quote in writing with a description of the services he is to perform, along with facility (hospital or clinic) fees, and anesthesia fees. This is the way a professional plastic surgeon would/should do business.

What I also gather from reading your post is that you wanted a lift from the very beginning. I am sorry that you were not in complete agreement with your physician on what procedures you wanted done before your surgery.
If this happens again, you are free to get another opinion from a surgeon with the same credentials. It is always best to get at least 2 or 3 opinions.

I hope that you will have a clear communication with your next surgeon and that the two of you (as well as your husband ) will be in complete agreement over the surgery. I don't care how many consults that takes. You are the patient, and you are paying for the surgery. You should get what you want, and know what you are getting.
I would like to see your pictures, if you are planning on posting them.
I am sorry that you did not get the result that you wanted, and that it is going to cost you more time and money.

Take care

Very disappointed mom of 46 yo pics

amyers1013
txmom808 here are some of the pics that I took. They are very, very embarrassing as you can see. I mis spoke on my 2nd comment on the price. The right breast was going to cost $2,400 and the left was $2,000 for the lift. The right was more bc he had to move it and place it down where it needed to be and lift it. You tell me if you would be happy walking away with results like these!!! Notice how the right breast is higher up on the chest and under the armpit more then how low it sags.

Dear ameyers,
I don't see any before pics, so it's hard for me to say if this is an improvement or not. Plus, I am not sure what challenges he was faced with because the starting shape always influences your outcome. It's not like starting with a blank slate.
From what I see, your breasts do not look all that bad from the frontal view. Your nipples are not that low. But, on the side view, your breast does look a bit flat. I don't know what type and size implant you chose, but I think you needed high profile, and a bigger size to fill up your loose skin. It doesn't look like that is what you have. If you go back for a revision with a lift, then talk to your PS about the style and size of your implant to be sure you achieve the look you want. Bring in some pictures. It is easier for your doctor to get you where you want to go if he can begin with a visual of the end in mind.

Your breasts don't look terrible, but there is room for improvement, and I do understand your disappointment.
Better luck to you in the next go round; I truly hope you get the result that you want !!
Good luck!

hello, I am reading your review and curious how this turned out? Did you go to a different surgeon and are you happy with the results?
