Excellent results from acne scar treatments

I saw Dr Nelson for treatment on my acne scars and have been extremely happy with my results. I had been looking to get my acne scars treated for a while and consulted with a few other dermatologists in NYC first, but they all recommended laser treatments and I didn't want to risk them since I have brown skin. Luckily, I found resources like Realself and discovered that there are far better treatment options like subcisions available since lasers do not penetrate deep enough to re-sculpt deep scars .

So, I started looking at dermatologists that specialize in subcisions and ended up going to Dr Novick who is among the best in NYC at that - I believe he has been doing subcisions for nearly 3 decades now. He treated me with a combination of subcisions, field-subcisions and TCA cross. All of these treatments were completely painless (and with very little down time) and I got excellent results from them. Subcisions fixed the deep indented scars I had, and TCA cross took care of the dozens and dozens of ice-pick scars I had all over my face. So far, I have had 3 TCA cross sessions, and 3 subcision sessions and my acne scars are nearly entirely gone. I might get one last treatment to take care of a few minor sites, but other than them, I am all done with my treatments. Best part is that these treatments fixed my scars by causing the skin to heal on its own by boosting the collagen production, so the results are permanent!

I also really like that Dr Novick only does 1 hour sessions with his patients, so he takes his time to hear out the patient's concerns and formulates a treatment plan according to that, as opposed to most other dermatologists that just rush their patients to try to see as many as they can in a day. He was very honest with me about my treatment options and their efficacy, and not once pressured me into getting any of them. Every treatment session started with him asking me which particular scar sites bothered me the most, and we would take it from there.

Some people here have complained about his cost, but I didn't find him to be any more expensive than other NYC dermatologists, much less dermatologists of his caliber. He charges for TCA cross per-cheek, and for subcisions per site, but his rates are reasonable enough that I ended up paying not much more than what I would have paid other derms who accept a flat fee for treating your whole face. In fact, he is cheaper than the other NYC dermatologists who are well-reviewed here, and had I traveled elsewhere in the country for treatment, airfare + hotel would have ended up costing even more than that. And frankly, if you can afford it, there is no reason to go bargain-hunting for treatments your face - its just not worth the risk imo.
