Still Swollen Yet Already Loving my Lipo! - Stuart, FL

My 'gobbler' double chin runs in my family. You...
WORTH IT$2,500
My 'gobbler' double chin runs in my family. You look at any woman in the family - young or old - and we all have it. I always hated it and knew it made me look older than I actually am. I have a slim body and if you only looked at my face you would think I was about 20 pounds heavier. I was nervous to undergo liposuction but knew it would be worth it.
I've had every non-invasive treatment done to my body and to my chin. Some things helped a little but I was ready to go full-scale and change what nature gave me. Dr. Adler did standard tumescent lipo to my neck and chin. For contouring he actually lipo'd all the way back to my ears. I was awake through the operation - he only did local anesthesia (and PS - it's just a tiny needle for numbing and it doesn't hurt at all [if you have had Botox or fillers this needle is like soda pop, easy stuff]).
I also took Valium and Oxycodone one hour before my appointment. The procedure itself took less than 15 minutes - it was super simple. It was painless and absolutely worth the price and results.
I'm almost two weeks out now and still swollen - I saw Dr. Adler for my post-op last week and he told me I still have about 40% swelling and to get excited because my final results will be even better.
Day 1 post-op (the morning after my surgery) he took my bandages off and my chin looked amazing. In the days since that is when the swelling has occurred. I've know that week 6 is the best time to see the final results.

In case you were wondering if recovery is painful...
I just wanted to add that recovery, at least for me, wasn't painful at all. They gave my hydrocodone and I took it for about 2 days following the surgery and then I stopped.
Today is week 2 and I still have a little swelling but already can see a huge difference from where my chin used to be. I definitely go through times where it feels numb but I know that's normal. My neck is tender but that doesn't bother me. I don't have any bumpiness or hard spots.

Hey there! Looking very good, love your results! I'm getting lipo on my abdomen area plus my chin on July 1. I have a wedding to attend about 36 hours later but I won't go with a compression thing on my head. I wonder if I could go to the wedding for like an hour or two then put the compression back on when I get in the car....

Hey Cyndarella!
I'd say you can get away with the swelling part for your chin - but keep in mind in the following 24 hours after your lipo you do have a lot of swelling and some significant bruising. Because of the incisions, you can't really put makeup on it to hide them. Plus adding on the lipo on your belly - I'm not so sure you'll feel up to going to a wedding.
Could you reschedule your surgery for the day after (or the Monday after) the wedding?? It may make the whole healing process a lot more tolerable.
I'm super excited for you. You are going to love liposuction!

You're so right, I'm not gonna go to the wedding. I can't reschedule because of when I have to go back to work. Guess my husband will have to go to his friends wedding solo! That's OK. I'm just super excited about finally getting Lipo! Thank you for your thoughts!!!

It's my pleasure! In my humble opinion, lipo is 100% worth missing a wedding over. Haha.
Have some low-sodium soups and soft stuff ready for the day of your lipo so you can eat later once you get home. You won't want to chew at least for the first day. By day 2 I was eating normal foods again. Also, I'm sure your doctor already told you this but NO ibuprofen for pain. It'll make you bruise much worse, make you swell, and slow down your healing process.

You list the cost as $2500 which seems crazy high to me based on quotes I've received just for chin lipo. What did that cost cover exactly? Is that cost only for the chin area?

It was for the area directly under my chin, lipo all the way back to my ears and jawline, and he also went down my neck.
While it may seem a little pricey, I did my research and he's the very best surgeon there is available (and has tons of experience in chin and jawline lipo).
It's always been my own philosophy to pay a little more for high-quality work than to try to save money and get something that I'm not happy with, especially when it comes to my face.
Lots of luck with your research!!

I feel like my face is the same size, but I also see myself in the mirror many times a day. I do notice that I'm using less contour (and more natural looking) makeup because it doesn't feel as necessary anymore.
