A breast cancer diagnosis always comes as a surprise, but for me - it truly was a SHOCK. Having worked with women's health and functional medicine, I was adamant about prevention but cancer still found me. I was in good hands with my gynecologist and immediately took action with a breast surgeon. I personally opted for a double mastectomy. Finding a plastic surgeon was much harder. Getting diagnosed in Sunny Florida during "snowbird" season and right before spring break made scheduling two doctors together very difficult. I went down the list of suggestions from my breast surgeon. Of course many were very busy and couldn't find a date any sooner than 8 weeks. When I finally went to see Dr. Lipschitz, he too was very busy, but his first concern was me, the breast cancer patient who wanted her cancer out "yesterday". He worked with his schedule and made himself available to my breast surgeon at her earliest date . Together they did a fabulous job and I was even able to keep my nipples! The end result was truly amazing and I already felt free and feminine. Over the next few months I was expanded to accommodate an implant. I just recently had a second surgery to complete the breast reconstruction which was done with a total abdominal hysterectomy. Once again, Dr. Lipschitz was concerned about me, the patient, and made every accommodation to coordinated his part of the surgery with my favorite gynecologist so I would not have to face two separate surgeries and even did a tummy tuck to close for the hysterectomy. He is a very talented surgeon with "beautiful hands" according to the other surgeons. Since becoming a patient, I am amazed how fortunate I was to find him among the many talented plastic surgeons in the area. I wasn't choosing a plastic surgeon, I was trying to find an immediate breast cancer "reconstructor". He is truly not your average plastic surgeon - he is personal, a gifted surgeon and cares about his patients and his results. He is one of the only plastic surgeons offering special reconstruction techniques for more complicated cancer patients. Procedures not well reimbursed by insurance companies which is why many others surgeons don't even offer them. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing (through cancer or trauma) or cosmetically wanting the skills of a plastic surgeon. I would send my best friend, close family or even my children to him if ever I needed his skills.
