I want my face to reflect how I feel on the inside….I don’t feel 49. Genetics have played a big role in how my face is aging. That’s one thing no diet, exercise or expensive creams etc. has been able to control. So tomorrow I’m taking the plunge and getting a mini face lift and rhinoplasty. My nose was broken in a vehicle crash a few years ago and is now really showing the curvature. Thanks to many in the RS community, I feel prepared and have a good idea of what to expect during the healing phase. I know that I am in great hands with Dr. Avron Lipschitz of Athena Plastic Surgery.
He and his staff have been outstanding. As painful as it is, I’ve posted a few pictures of what my face looks like now and hope to post updates throughout my recovery.

NOTE: Before I forget to mention....both Dr. Lipschitz and the anesthesiologist phoned me personally the early evening before my procedure to answer any question or quell any concerns.I arrived at the surgical center at 7 am and was met by the Doctor, the anesthesiologist and nurses. Dr. L did very a thorough review of what procedures I was having done and following that I met with the anesthesiologist to review some things and answer any questions. The doctor made his markings and off I went.
Several hours later, I emerged with a lot of bandaging and compression. My wonderful husband got me home and in bed.
The rest of the day (I got home about 3pm) and first night was uneventful...I slept off an on. What I remember most is how slow time was passing by. I'd awake and check the clock thinking several hours had past, but nope just 1 or 2. Weird.
My only small complication was that an eye ointment used during anesthesia was beginning to cause irritation.

Well, as I mentioned before, sleep was really off an on the first night. The next morning I received a phone call from Dr. L inquiring as to how I was doing and about my eye irritation. I had a previously schedule appointment for later this day but when I explained to the Doctor that the irritation was growing into a problem, he had me come in right away.
My hubby got me there asap and the Doctor flushed my eye and was able to remove what we think was a foreign body (??). AHHH relief. Now I can get on with healing the rest of me.
I left after arranging to have my drains and nose splints removed two days later.
My swelling seems to be minimal and really no bruising. My neck and jawline are very tight. I don't want to open my mouth too much as to disrupt the work Dr. L has done. I am on a totally liquid diet. I haven't gotten really hungry yet. Thank goodness. The downtime is really the hardest part. I am cleaning as instructed and was sooo glad to wash my hair. I literally had cement hair...I didn't expect that. The body will heal at what pace it shall...
I look better than I feel but I know it all takes time and will all come together.
