Whoops!

Just wanted to verify, its called "24 Hour Recovery" (in my opinion it was pretty darn rapid too.)
I also just had glue over my incisions, not steri-strip. I would had fixed that in my review but it won't let me! Hope this helps!

I had originally visited Dr. Epstein for a consultation in April, 2013 with a friend of mine. We both had a consult that day and did the Vectra 3D and I also got a copy of the pictures from the Vectra 3D. It really helped put into perspective what I would look like considering my anatomy with the size I wanted. One of the other really awesome things that Dr. Epstein does is the 24 Hour Rapid Recovery. Having friends and family members whom have had breast augmentation before with other doctors were in pain and immobile for days to weeks after surgery, I was skeptical to say the least. I held off on scheduling surgery right away due to funds and timing. My friend, on the other hand scheduled her surgery a month later. I was happy she did because then I could hear all about her experience and find out if this 24 hour recovery was the real deal. Her surgery came and she said everything went great, she said it was a very relaxing experience and would do it all over again if she had to. (I found that hard to believe since its SURGERY! How nerve wrecking!) She works a sedentary job like me and said she went to work the next day. I was like noooo way! She said she even drove and everything was fine. After months of contemplating my decision, I decided to schedule my surgery. I scheduled my surgery for April 30th. After receiving my booklet in the mail, I looked it over and realized there was a lot I could and couldn’t do. One of the hardest things for me to do before surgery was make sure I didn’t take any medications on the “DO NOT TAKE” list. It varied from supplements and protein shakes to green tea and Advil. As it was super hard, I appreciated the information because it leaves little to no error when in surgery. After my pre-op I was a little nervous, not because of the surgery, at least not yet. But, because Dr. Epstein explained to me that because my breasts were two different sizes (one had travelled south a little further than the other) he said there was no guarantee that they would be perfectly symmetrical after surgery and the only way to achieve the perfect symmetry would be to do a lift on the one breast. I thought to myself, “well, all that matters is they will look better than they do now and I’m the only one who will be able to see the asymmetry without a bra” I came to terms with that. Also, I had told Dr. Epstein that I had wanted to be in the Mid-full C cup range and I did NOT want to fall into the D range. I have a petite frame and didn’t want to look top heavy. Although, he did not say which size implant he was going to put in, he did reassure me that he would try different sizes to see what will fit best without over filling and get me to the size I wanted. I was uneasy because I had fixated for months about two sizes I wanted. But I trusted in Dr. Epstein’s work and it almost put my mind at ease in a way. From now until surgery I didn’t have to obsess over which implant size I wanted, which I had researched for months.

A few days before surgery I had the Surgery Nurse call and the anesthesiologist to go over any medications I was taking and to tell me when to take the medications they prescribed me before surgery. The day of surgery and very nervous, I had arrived a few minutes early to be greeted by the staff warmly. The surgery nurse took me back and had me change into the gown and put on the socks that were provided and spoke to me about the surgery. She was very, very sweet and put me at ease from the moment she greeted me. She went over everything with me and asked me last minute questions. The anesthesiologist soon came in and was just as warm and sweet as the surgery nurse! She was also very soft spoken and sweet as well. Now I know what my friend was talking about! After the anesthesiologist had asked me last minute questions and answered any questions I had for her, Dr. Epstein came in and drew some markings on me which he explained were used as guidelines to help him in surgery. After he was done, I was taken back to the surgery room where everyone really did their best to make me feel at ease. They all talked to me and asked me questions to keep my mind busy while everything was being situated around me. The anesthesiologist gave me my IV and situated herself behind my head and told me just to take deep breaths and relax. After a few seconds I began to feel sleepy and jokingly said, “Whew I can feel that stuff kicking in!” The next thing I knew I was in recovery, there was a nurse a few feet away from me and a plastic air thing over my whole body keeping me warm, which was nice. The nurse saw me awakening and asked how I was feeling (I think, this part is kind of fuzzy) She gave me water and some cookies and asked if I wanted my mom to come back to see how I was doing. Of course, I said yes, because who doesn’t want their mom after surgery? I would have to say that this is the most discomfort I felt in the whole surgery/healing process. I wasn’t really in pain, but just sore and uncomfortable. I asked the nurse if I could have the Ibuprofen now instead of later. She said yes and I took it along with my cookies. After what seemed like a few minutes she sat me up and helped me get dressed, I remember mentioning to her how surprised I was that I could get dressed mainly on my own (I had pulled on my own under garment and yoga pants all by myself) Dr. Epstein came in and asked how I was feeling and said he just wanted to take a quick look at everything and said everything came out really well and he said he didn’t think that I even needed the lift! I would have kicked my heels together if I wasn’t so looped up. Haha. He also asked me to lift my arms over my head, I had braced myself for pain or only being able to lift them a tiny bit, but with ease I lifted my arms and touched my hands together. I thought to myself, whoa. My poor sister couldn’t even go pee alone after her augmentation. A great thing about the 24 hour rapid recovery is I didn’t have to wear a special surgical bra that I have heard nightmares about. I walked out of the office with steri strips over my incisions and a zip up. It wasn’t even necessary for me to wear a bra if I didn’t want to. They did say after a week or two to wear one. I had an hour and 20 minute ride home which the anesthesiologist said was ok to nap in this time. One of the “Recipe to Recovery” highlights is to go home and take a 2 hour nap, no more and no less. So, it was nice to have a little extra rest time directly after surgery. I ate half a bagel and dosed off. I went home and took my recommended two hour nap. After I awoke, I was really surprised to find that I felt good, REALLY REALLY good. 90% better than I did when I came out of surgery. I had felt a little tight and sore and I had began my arm exercises , Which were also a highlight on the “recipe to recovery” . Every hour on the hour for the next 5 days I would need to put my arms over my head and have my elbows touch my ears. I would get nervous right before doing them because I thought “it has to hurt this time” and it never did! It almost felt good to stretch the muscles. One thing that really, really made my stomach turn was hearing air/sloshing in my right breast which, I read was normal after surgery. The sound just really gave me the heebie jeebies, but subsided after day 3 of arm exercises. I got a phone call around 8pm from Dr. Epstein checking on me and asking how I was feeling, it was really nice to get a phone call from him personally. One other thing that I was really not looking forward to that was part of the, “Recipe for recovery” was laying on my breasts for 15 minutes before bed for 4-6 weeks. I was like alright, arm exercises won’t hurt, but come on, let’s be real here I’m laying directly on my boobs and for 15 minutes? There has to be some type of pain. I took a nice hot shower that night and then laid on them as instructed. After my body weight was fully on my breast I thought, “holy crap, this doesn’t hurt and it feels kind of good!” The only hard part about this was rolling to my side after the 15 minutes were done. I wasn’t allowed to use my arms in a push up motion to get up and I had to have my boyfriend help me roll over. Sleep that evening was ok, I had woken up in the morning and was instructed to have something to eat and take the 800 mg of Ibuprofen. (I wasn’t given any narcotics at all for pain) A half hour later I was also instructed to take a warm shower and do the set of arm exercises in the shower. I had felt really good and even made the bed. I got my stuff together and went to work! My co-worker was astounded that I even managed to get to work, let alone do tasks. I had still felt a little funny from the anesthesia but it didn’t affect my driving or decision making. I was able to drive fine and do everyday tasks like open doors. Early afternoon I had started to lose energy and felt sleepy. I work for family so I was lucky enough to be able to go home and rest for a few hours before my Post op appointment that afternoon. After arriving to my post op I had spoken to Dr. Epstein and he said that he was very pleased with the outcome of my breasts and how symmetrical they were. He didn’t need to tell me twice, I had stared at them every time I changed. I told him how good I felt and how I went to work that day and he was very pleased. He even asked if I wanted to go speak to a woman who was in for a consult to tell her how I felt and about my experience. I was glad to do it. It is now 3 weeks to the day of my surgery and I feel wonderful. I think the only time in the full 21 days I ever felt discomfort was directly after surgery and on a scale from 1-10, that discomfort was about a 5. I was in more pain when I had my wisdom teeth out. I did feel more uncomfortable the 3rd day due to the fluids moving through my muscles and the bloated feeling. By day 4 I wasn’t uncomfortable anymore and by day 8 the bloating had subsided. All in all, anyone who inquires about getting a breast augmentation I would definitely recommend Dr. Epstein. From consult to post op he was very informative and attentive. His staff was always pleasant, super sweet and very warming. The 24 hour Rapid Recovery is definitely the real deal!
