I'm getting my Tummy Tuck done on 1/7. Had my smart done on 12/18. The doctor removed about 17lbs of fat from the lipo. He said I have about 10lbs to remove

I was so excited when they took me back and did my drawings. I had to be there at 7:15. The doctor did my smart lipo. And couldn't go thru with the tummy tuck. He said I had to much fat. And I was sleep to long. I felt like i was being punked I have to go back to his office on Monday. I'm all for safety. But I make have to wait 6 weeks

Wait!! I Dont understand!!! Who mixes smart lipo with a tummy tuck? Do u even have to be put to sleep with smart lipo? Who's this doctor because I'm no PS and know that the tummy tuck is preformed first and the lipo follows at the same time... 2 hrs I was done with TT, MR, hernia repair and lipo... U rite safety first and next u better know your business!! ...IJS!

some surgeons perform lipo first to loosen up the skin even more than perform the TT. Legally you can only remove so much fat. Some drs don't like to have patients under for to long because it poses too many risk. I know it sucks to have to go twice but I say better safe than sorry. The anesthetist most have saw drops in your vitals or something and they didn't want to risk it. When you go for your post op ask the dr. specifically what happen. Traditional, assisted and smart is pretty much all the same just slightly different techniques and some surgeons prefer one over the other. If you weren't suppose to get a TT more than likely they would have used local but since you were getting a TT as well they put you under. I hope everything works out and stay positive. I have been watching this website for some time now and I see the ups and downs but generally it all works out just fine.

also remember excessive lipo compromises the blood supply and you don't want to end up with necrosis with the incision of your TT .

I'm excited for you. Do you have to lose any weight before the surgery or does it even matter?
