I had my SmartLipo of lower abs, flanks & inner thighs, also with a skin excision at scar area of a laparotomy 30 years ago. So far, so good. Dr. Berman was absolutely great, he took about 550 cc's of fat/fluids out. I had oral sedation and he talked to me the entire time, though I probably don't remember half of what was said. Only a few times did I experience a stab of pain during the procedure - he adjusted and all went well.
The morning after, I woke up feeling great! Probably because my areas were still numb from the local anesthesia that's pumped under the skin. Once that wore off, I started hurting. I've only resorted to taking 2 Tylenol w/codeine because I do not like taking hydrocodone. First day back at work yesterday, I had to pull a 12 hour day. Now that was rough, but I made it through with just basic Tylenol. Today was much, much better and I seem to be moving around a lot quicker. Some bruising began to show up, nothing horrible. Each day is getting progressively better, despite the fact that I do have that additional incision at my pubic area. That's where most of the swelling seems to be settling for now.
I can already see a difference in my body, stomach is relatively flat and that damn spare tire is GONE! Woo hoo! :)

I don't really like that you cannot edit your posts in this forum, so to be honest I am probably not going to post much. I'm just here for information ..... :(

I'm a petite 57 year old Mom of 2, with prior laparotomy scar in pubic area has resulted in small but noticeable rolls of stubborn belly fat. I've always been extremely athletic, work out 5-6 times per week with 1-2 hour sessions and eat fairly well... But nothing is helping and it's getting worse as each year goes by - to the point that I'm no longer fitting in some of my clothes. Not to mention the muffin top in skinny jeans. Ugh! So I finally decided on Smart Lipo after 2 consultations. No pics just yet....

Dr. Berman is doing my Smart Lipo in Nov - I'm looking forward to your review of the procedure, recovery, and overall satisfaction with it. Good luck!

Dr. Berman is FABULOUS, you will love him!! The procedure went very well, took 3 hours but he did 3 areas plus excision of extra skin above prior laparotomy surgery (from over 30 yrs ago). I am 24 hours post-op, no leaking or drainage except in the bigger incision area. I haven't even had to use any pain meds yet, just a little sore but it's no big deal for me since I have a high pain tolerance. He even texted me this morning to make sure I was doing okay - you are in great hands! :)

It went great! Had oral sedation & local anesthesia to areas. He did 3 areas - lower ab, flanks, inner thighs plus excised extra skin which resulted in an additional scar above my pubic bone. So far so good, on Day 1 24 hours post op. Slept well, just a tiny bit sore in the incision area but no significant pain - haven't had to take a pain med at all! :)
