Steri Strip Removal After Breast Reduction
smontesinoJuly 11, 2019
So I’m in week 4 and finally removed my steri strips . They have been insanely itching for 3 weeks, but they said it’s the “healing “ process so I brushed it off until today . It’s looks like Ive been having an allergic reaction to the tape after I peeled it off the shower. I need to know if this should be a concern or what should i do about it? The itch is driving me crazy !! I put some aloe Vera but it gives temporary relief and also i keep ooozing from my incisions and it keeps getting stuck on the the gauze that i put over it to keep Dry. Also, the doc said to start silicone sheets cause it’ll help heal faster and relieve the itch . What to doo?!!! I’m crying out for help !!

Make sure ur taking all your antibiotics and keeping it clean and dry . When you shower don’t face he water and I’m not saying you do but smoking makes things worse and if this continues u need to call your plastic surgeon you would hate to find out it’s nipple necrosis fingers crossed u heal up .

It's likely an adhesive allergy, I can't use steri strips or anything but paper tape or I get itching and blisters. Benadryl (orally) will help if that's what it is.

Try putting gauze and using polysporin. I know it seems crazy but it will work. I’m in my 9th week of my reduction and ended up with necrosis. My incisions split the doctor said gauze and polysporin and keep it really clean to avoid infection

Steri Strip allergic reaction after breast reduction

Update: The blistering is gone , scabs are almost all gone, incisions are healing nicely, and inflammation/swelling gone. Now I’m left with this darkening area where the steri strips were.. what can I do to get rid of that ?

You poor thing! What an ordeal. I didn’t use steri-strips, I used sensitive skin tape (not regular micropore) for taping my surgical wounds. Much better, but too late now for you. Go and see a dermatologist. I suspect that it will resolve itself in due course, but dark skin can be prone to permanent darkening. The Derm may recommend some Lazer Genesis or something that speeds up the healing process. I am 16 weeks out from a breast review (went smaller, I would have freaked if I had gone this small first time around) and an abdominoplasty. I have had erbium laser on the scars, regular Genesis, taping with silicon (and using silicon ointment) and have just moved on to V-beam today (instead of Genesis). Will get some kind of micro-needling down the track. Good luck and take care!
