After three kids, substantial weight gain, then weight loss - I decided to get a consult this past June (2015). I went over what is like to see done, what my expected results could be, and went home giving myself to fall to lose anymore weight that wanted to leave, make sure my feelings were stable about it. In November I called and booked my big day for December 9th.
I feel happy with the care that I have received from the office of Dr Petersen. I feel like I was prepped with good info, although there could have been more. You know, you're so out of it afterward, and so nervous before - it's difficult to remember verbal instructions anyway. I think each time you leave, a piece of paper with instructions and what to expect along the way for each visit post op. (Next day; removal of pain pump; drain removal, etc) would be very helpful!
They have stated many times - any questions? Just ask or call! I did on day 2. Good feedback, and as always, instructions to take it easy.
So far I am happy with the nearly 7 pounds of skin I had removed. I also elected for Lipo on hips and inner thighs. He did a good job and I'm excited to see long term how everything looks months and years down the road.

Bruised and battered! The swelling hasn't gone down yet, and I'm so sore and tender everywhere that it's really difficult to manage my pain and get comfortable.
I had a large hanging pannus that was always in the way. It's nice to have that gone. It was nice finally having a bowel movement today. Twice. Hey - I was very nervous about that. Dr Peterson had me come in to check my drains and incisions.

I got a chair for the shower. That was so nice to take a shower yesterday (for more than 35 seconds). My inner thighs are still just back and purple and red in some areas - hot to the touch. I went in to the Dr the other day. Both drains stayed in because they are still collecting fluids. My drain holes are so painful. I dread the pain that comes from them being removed, but it will be nice to not have the drains always around. My girdle is so uncomfortable. It comes clear up under my breasts and it's so tight, I can't breathe! I haven't been able to really inspect the incision. Pain is still intense. Out of pain meds, so taking Ibuprofen 800mg and Tylenol it is. I get hot flashes, then minutes later have chilly feet. I keep having an awful pain that feels like my incision is ripping open on my right hip. It's agonizing.
Hoping for the pain to get better this week!
