I am 66. I weigh 110 and am 5'3". I have two daughters, the youngest is 44. When I was 8 years old, I had a appendectomy. The "surgeon" gave me a mid-line incision. My belly is disgusting. Anyway, I am healthy, active and have finally made an appointment for a consult on Feb. 26. I am taking the first step.

I had my consult today. I have scheduled my surgery for March 18. I can't believe I am actually doing this. I've wanted it for so long. I would love to hear other reviews from women around my age. I will post a before picture when I get up enough nerve. I'm so glad I found this site. It's great to see other's results.

Hello....I posted pics (yuck :-/) but I am getting excited! I have been waiting 28 yrs for this! I know it will be painful/uncomfortable for a bit but I think it will be worth it!!! Stay positive and let's stay in touch. Good luck.

I'm 61 with one child. The surgery was so worth it. I was really prepared for recovery to be really terrible but it was not as bad as I imagined. The unknown was much worse the the actuality of recovery. I did need help for the first 4-5 days but after that I would have been fine on my own. Luckily I was never regretful or emotional in the first few days as some say they are. This surgery is so worth it. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers for the 18th. Keep us posted :-)

Thank you for commenting. I'm not really concerned about the pain. I think I can handle just about anything. I'm really excited about not having this horrible fat, flabby skin! I have my preop tomorrow. I'll post a photo of before. I will keep you posted.

Yesterday was my surgery. Everything was awesome, from the time I arrived until the time I left. My surgery was at 7:30, and I had 'planned' to be at home by noon. I actually got home around 1:30. Had to stop for scripts. I stayed up most of the rest of the day. My daughter was with me all night, and took me to my post op appointment this morning.
My surgeon is wonderful. She is caring and empathetic and just an all around great person. As you will see in the before and after picture....she removed 3 1/2 pounds of fat and skin. I had only the abdominoplasty and muscle repair. No lipo. the 3 1/2 pound came right off my abdomen. Anyway, I am absolutely thrilled with the results. I know it is only post op day 1. It will only get better. Now, before and after! I am unable to get my after picture to rotate. Posting anyway.

Good morning! It is 6am. I slept in my recliner for 4 straight hours! My drains are putting out less and less already so I am hoping I won't need then for too long. My pain really is minimal. The incision site doesn't hurt....the worst of it is the tight binder and sit to stand and the bent over walking....lol my doctor wants me to stay stooped forward for 2 weeks so scar is not tugged on and heals thin versus thick....so it will be worth it! Also no shower for 2 weeks.....that's tough but I'm doing what he tells me to do! As far as my doctor.....Dr. Scott Farber in Boca Raton.....he is wonderful!!! He is straight forward, personable and you honestly do feel he cares and is giving you his best! I would highly recommend him!!

How is everything going with you? Please fill me in! It is nice to have someone, going through the same thing at the same time, to talk to!

Good morning!!! It sounds like you are doing great! Don't you think it's a lot about attitude? I had a good day yesterday. Ended up by myself around noon, and that is fine with me. I took a 1/2 of Percocet around 1pm and dozed for awhile. At soup for dinner and drank lots of water and a couple of glasses of pineapple juice. I'm also taking Arnica and Bromelain. I figured if everyone else is taking them and the PS are recommending them, then OK! I took a shower yesterday by myself. I didn't scrub, just let the water on my back. I'm going to take another one this morning and wash my hair. My suture line is sore, but nothing I can't handle. I did take a whole Percocet about 930 last night. Only got up once. I'm sleeping in my bed, head elevated on 2 pillows and knees on two pillows. I am drinking coffee as I write this. I
I am so happy for you AND me. Literally we're 'living our dreams'. I am going to a natural health provider today and have a electromagnetic treatment. It's supposed to speed healing and reduce swelling. All the stuff we want gone ASAP.
Have a fabulous day. Let's catch up with each other later on in the day. I want to know how your first day went. Yay for us.

Had my follow up this morning. My PS said all is as it should be! I got to see my stomach and it looks unreal! I am swollen and I find it hard to go from sitting to standing or to lay down....all normal at day one. I otherwise feel great. Walking as much as possible, eating super healthy....yogurt, fruit, protein and veggies, lots of water too. I am also taking arnica and eating pineapple! I def think it helps! Yes, attitude is half the battle....it always is

Are you wearing a binder? Do you have drains? I cannot shower until both drains are removed.....so I have invested in baby wipes/ wash clothes! Lol
March 21, 2015
I have one drain that has only had 20 cc since yesterday at 4:40 pm. Yes, I have a binder. I've taken 2 showers. I get my drain removed on the 26th. At least that is the plan for now.

I'm taking pain meds as needed for now, eating super healthy, lots of water. I have two drains and my doc won't let me shower until they are removed. I have 10cc in left drain and 25 in the other. I think the hardest part is staying stooped over....my doctor said he wants me to for two weeks. Overall, I am thrilled to have had this done!
